His style of painting reveals to have an interesting balance of unity in his art, for example the thick application of paint on the swirly sky reveal a slow flow of wind in the calming night under the moonlight which implied an illusion of motion. Van Gogh input a great deal of his emotional response into “The Starry Night” for it portray a gloomy and yet calming atmosphere.
