Spindle
A spindle is a straight spike usually made from wood used for spinning, twisting fibers wool, and cotton into yarn. It is often weighted at the bottom, middle, or top, commonly by a disc called a whorl. And if they don’t have a whorl, they are made thick at the bottom. The spindle may have a hook, groove, or notch at the top to guide the yarn.
This tentative research proposal comprehensively satisfies the factors of fives Ws and one H in the following manner:
WHAT: The main character of my thesis concept is a spindle. The word spindle originated from the Old English word of spinel, which means to rotates in a fast manner
WHO: The character of my thesis concept is the spindle called Firki (thread bobbin). It will be designed as an android game, where Firki will play the pivotal role of weaving (interlacing of threads to form cloth) cloth with individual and novel designs. Firki is a handmade wooden spindle, weathered with use, prone to breakages and entangling threads, which will prove to be the hurdles in the game. Firki will play on the command of the user.
WHEN: This game will be developed in the year 2014 and will be produced as an end product in early 2015.
WHERE: The origin of the first wooden spindle is lost to history because the materials did not survive. Whorl-weighted spindles date back at least to Neolithic times; spindle whorls have been found in archaeological digs around the world.
A spindle is also part of traditional spinning wheels, such as the Indian charkha and the great or walking wheel. In industrial yarn production, spindles are used as well; see spinning jenny, spinning mule and ring spinning. It’s commonly found in North American and South Asian states.
WHY: The use of spindle is the means of livelihood of many rural women and of Pakistan, who contribute to our textile industry. The spindle symbolizes their craft and
