Mentioning Crazy Horse is an example of a symbolic meaning. Also having Crazy Horse around the reservation was the highlight after tragic things were happening in the reservation. Seeing Crazy Horse a symbolic figure also a glory to the Indians also stuck in the reservation shows how bad the government is. With the help of the government, the situation in the reservation worsened. When cab driver asked Crazy Horse where he is going he answered “somewhere up the goddamn road” and same place where he was going. This is another example of not being able to get out of the reservation. The title to the poem introduces the poem itself it makes you understand what the poem it’s going to be about in this case it was about “The Reservation Cab Driver”. The irony Alexie uses makes you think if the cab driver understood what Seymour told him when he said “It’s a hell of a pony”. It is ironic because the car is junk it is also ironic what Seymour said because it is not a pony it is a car and again it is ironic because horses are sacred to the Indians. Alexie was able to get his message of how the reservation was different to the rest of America. He also showed us through this poem how life was in this particular
