Slaves resisted in many ways, such as purchasing freedom. There were many people who bought their own freedom, after years of saving up money. If their owner treated them horrible, the slaves would either steal materialist objects such as food or valuable goods worth money or affection to the owner. They’d also begin to work slower, making their owners mad. The 1791 Rebellion had slaves going against their masters. It was known to be the largest and the most successful slave rebellion in the western hemisphere. By 1803, they had much success in freedom as well Frech control over the colonies. This clearly was extremely successful although it must have injured many slaves because masters were mad that they were acting up. After many examples of resistance, slaves adapted as well.
