well first of all of their reactions are being controlled by the Elders to prevent hurt feelings or to create chaos in the community. Next the people don’t have anything to understand and create actual emotions due to all the emotions being contained by the Receiver therefore they cannot react the way that they want to. Lastly the way it removes the freedom of the people is that they …show more content…
don’t have any thought of their own to do something they actually want to do.
Well in the text it says that they “observed him meticulously” and when that means, they were thinking of giving him this job and because of his attributes and so they thought this job was right for Jonas and because he has the quality called to “See Beyond”.
How this removes the freedom of the citizens is that maybe they would’ve liked to have gotten the Fish Hatchery Attendant or the Nurturer . In the book we find out that the last receiver of memory had requested for release/ was unsuccessful so if the receiver can apply then why can’t other people as well.
The controlled jobs remove the freedom of the people of the community with big power because like a child, you don’t get to choose much of what you want to do.
A pro with controlled emotion is that there is no drama, there are no fights or jealousy with one another and with that it creates a community that is easy to control and work with. Without emotions into play the people in the community would not need to worry about emotions like during jobs and issues.
Restricted emotions prevent drama and any emotions that can cause emotional damage and damage overall to the people in the community, like when Jonas leaves the community and that gives all the memories back to the people.
A con of having restricted emotions is that without emotions where would you find out what you would be like, it's pretty much just a shell of a person with basic human abilities. Cons of emotions drama, anger, jealousy etc all those things.
How this text explains that emotions can cause anger is that once someone gets a higher position or a better place than where they are the person who is in the lower position could get really bad and jealous of the other person’s authority and power.
The pros of an entirely controlled community is that it’s good when trying to keep everyone in order and to make sure that there is no chaos in the community. While on the flip side the cons of a controlled community is that everyone does not get to choose their own jobs and to react to stuff. But the main idea of a controlled community is to sustain peace and order and to extinguish chaos and to make sure there is no
problems.
