Later on Charles and Lucy are married and have a child when Charles received a letter. This letter was a plea from an old friend requesting his help, but when he traveled back to France his secret was revealed. He was thrown in jail and put on for another trial in which once he is freed, he is considered to be “resurrected” due to him escaping his seemingly undeniable fate. But as always the story does not go as smoothly and he is imprisoned again.
