But hatred and revenge from the victim are wrongly placed and waste of emotions that neither benefit the victim nor the perpetrator. Giving justice helps the victim to put the harm suffered into proper context, seeing the experience as part of life and not all of life.
The knowledge that some perpetrators cannot help themselves and that they are incapable of fully understanding the impact they have on their victims helps to alleviate the feelings of hatred and

Acting on revenge can either be bittersweet or deadly. Revenge is the act of “getting someone back” who has done another person wrong. The emotion one feels that could lead to revenge is anger, as a replacement of grief. Normally, the person taking revenge lets the one who has done him wrong know that he is vengeful. Other times, the person would act upon his revenge without letting the victim know what he is getting revenge on. Although, sometimes, an individual would just forgive the other person and move on.…

Justice isn't really about “getting even” or experiencing joy in retaliation, rather it is about righting a wrong that society would agree is morally culpable. Revenge possesses a selfish quality: arrogance, vindication, ruthlessness. Revenge shall not be confused with justice; however, societal standards have allowed these two to become false inverses. As seen in numerous novels, poems and theatrical productions, characters interpret justice as revenge and revenge as justice— so does society.…

There are many forms to degrade a person, some are deep wounds that can leave an imprint forever, and some go through one ear and out the other. There have been many occasions where one’s life is played upon, where the only solution is death. Many times in life, people seek vengeance on one another because they think it’s the right thing, when it’s wrong. However revenge is too tempting there for one cannot retain it. In many situations the person seeking revenge not only hurts themselves but everyone amongst them. Mahatma Gandhi confirms this when he says “An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind”. This means, from revenge you only end up impairing everyone from the resentful wrongs you perform. Some may agree or disagree with this quote. Euripides shows this quote being true in his play Medea.…

Instead of letting go on whatever the person did to the person who is seeking revenge,…

    Justice vs Mercy

Justice is the most fundamental requirement of a properly functioning, civilized society. An unwavering system of cause and effect that apply to all members is exactly what human beings need to ensure peaceful living. As the events and characters of Shakespeare’s King Lear clearly indicate, mercy is extremely important in dealing with problems in society, but justice should be the standard by which people are governed in dealing with crimes, however harsh it may seem. Man needs to fear the consequences of his actions because if there are no undesired repercussions, he will follow his baser desires to no limit. When there is a strict system of justice in place that applies to all members of society, fewer crimes will be committed as a result of public punishments. Also, there is a system of karma that we already see in place. If justice is not served by the law, some form of justice comes around to the perpetrator from a higher power. Therefore, in dealing with crimes in society as a whole, the use of justice should dominate the use of mercy.…

When I think about justice being served, I believe the victim should benefit the most from the crime. I believe because what the victim went through, they want to see the same thing happen to the accused. I hear from my mother all the time that if someone can hurt and put someone in danger, that the victim should be able to do the exact same thing that was done to them to the accused. If someone can hurt an innocent person for no reason than why can’t the victim be able to do the exact same thing to the accused? In the past two decades, victims have relentlessly argued for increased victim participation in the criminal…
