Review Of Cadet Lloyd's 'Chapter 4: A New Years'
CHAPTER 4: A FEW YEARS AGO: “Cadet Lloyd Ackerman, sir! Ready to serve our country!” Lloyd shouted, standing at attention before his sergeant. Lloyd was a gifted young man—born from a wealthy family, a mathematical genius, naturally athletic, and one of the fastest recruits to rise through the ranks. In battle, he was always the first to engage, he was never scared of death as he was prepared to die for his country. After just a year and a half, Lloyd was already among the toppers in sergeant rank. In every mission he joined, he would be the one that killed the most. He was said to be the reincarnation of Genghis Khan, leaving no enemy alive. But everything changed when he was sent to one of the deadliest wars the country had ever faced. Lloyd …show more content…
This made the audition lose time, and he did not realize the story had ended. “So, the nightmare I was constantly experiencing, you're the one behind it, attacking my mind to send me a message. You’re saying it’s time for me to reclaim my freedom.” Dexter, or rather Lloyd, concluded. “Exactly, my friend. It's indeed your time to take back your freedom.” Lyra answered with excitement. “To do so, you just need to wake up”. What happens at the surface, I'll help you.” “Is anyone else surviving apart from me? And if I do wake up, won’t the enemy notice?” Lloyd asked. “First of all, yes, there's still others who are alive, but they're not ready to act yet. Second, you don’t need to worry about the enemy, like I said. You only need to wake up. Leave the rest to me.” Lyra assured him. “Plus, remember, I'm a powerful A.I., designed and programmed by the best among the best programmers your country has in stock,” Lyra added. “If you say so,” he said. Then how do I wake up?” Lloyd's curiosity grew. “Just like how you woke up from your nightmare,” Lyra replied with a reassuring smile. “You mean, that way?” Lloyd was hesitant, finding it hard to believe. “That's the only way, Lloyd. If there's nothing else, see you on the other side.” Lyra waved before the grid dissolved into the …show more content…
He was inside a sleeping pod, trapped, unable to move freely. He punched the transparent glass, blocking him from the outside world. “Hey, Lloyd, calm down. I'm here. Just take it easy,” Lyra’s voice was heard through Lloyd’s ear. “For now, you can't see me." You'll need to get bionic eyes to be able to see me, but it's not important right now. What is important is that I'm here.” She reassured him. Lyra hacked through the enemy’s security to open the pod. The glass door opened for Lloyd to move out. Lloyd crawled out due to the need to adjust to the sudden change in the environment. With all his might, he stood up but still adapted to the adjustment. All his limbs are intact. “All right, listen up. Go through the door to your left. Take right from the door and straight until you meet the T-junction. Then, go left, straight until you see a sea through the window. The assault and rescue team will be waiting there. I've informed them about the plan.” Lyra gave a long order to Lloyd. “What about the others?” Lloyd still asked, even after he learned the truth about the grid. “We'll talk about that later." Now, go!” Lyra commanded. With a pushed by a rush of adrenaline, Lloyd ran down the hallway, desperate to earn his long-gone freedom. His footsteps echoed down the empty corridor, not meeting any guard. Luck is on his side, at least for now. As he rounded the
