Review Of Quotes From Nathaniel Hawthorne's 'The Scarlet Letter'
Hester i really like how mentally strong you are. You are a very strong, amazing woman. When i am with you, I feel like no other feeling one that i have never felt before. Hester you make me feel like a king! Also, When i am with you, i try my hardest to make you feel like a queen.

When we are together my heart races, my palms sweat, and i am blinded with love. Everything i do is for you and to try and make your life amazing. When we are together i can’t control my emotions and feelings, because of how much i love you! As soon as you stood up on the stand by yourself, i knew you were the woman for me. Ever since that day i have felt nothing but love, compation, and happiness.

I hope in the future that we can live happy, normal, religious

Imagine living in Salem during the 1500’s and being punished for things that are now widely accepted in our generation. The threat of punishment is what Hester and Pearl had to endure throughout the entire story. In my opinion Pearl is the most misunderstood character throughout the book. She is very intelligent but can be troublesome at times. On top of that, she is the product of sin which could only make things harder.…

Common throughout religious stories we read today mainly focuses on how the author feels about their faith. However, in Hawthorne’s novel The Scarlet Letter it composed a both beautiful and tragic story while still creating a deep impact on the conflicting views of the society and nature in the Puritan society. Hawthorne uses his main characters in this novel to focus on three main rhetorical strategies; symbolism, hypocrisy and maliciousness. While using these strategies Hawthorne is able to create a story of a woman who was condemned and exposed of her sin in the Puritan Society.…

Reverent Dimmesdale 's journey through the story shows how his insecurities effect his decisions. Dimmesdale often let his thoughts of rejection from his life as a loved godly man take away from what he needed to do. He shows, by these actions, a want to be accepted that is so strong that it can overpower his churchly values. Dimmesdale 's inner-conflict with his conscience demonstrates how his need to fit in with society overpowers his value to have a pure repented heart.…

In The Scarlet Letter, a novel by author Nathaniel Hawthorne, rugged individualism is a reoccurring theme with certain characters throughout the text. Rugged individualism expresses the idea of someone doing what is believed to be right for themselves despite the consequences that may be placed on the person or the people around this person. Hawthorne's viewpoint of Pearl seems to be exceptionally adoring as he claims that her "beauty shined through the gorgeous robes" (Ch. 6) and there was a "circle of radiance" (Ch. 6) that shone about her. As more of Pearl is revealed, Hawthorne's tone changes to a violent and threatening tone as he states that Pearl showed off a "variety of threatening gestures" (Ch. 7) and with much force she "screamed and shouted" (Ch. 7) at her enemies.…

Isolation, pride and guilt are all themes Heathrow used in The Scarlet Letter. Hester and Dimmesdale are good examples of the theme of isolation. In the previous chapter, we see them leaving their home to have a better future together as a family. In this chapter, they were getting a boat ride to leave the area to start a new life as a family. This resulted in them still being quite isolated from the “real world”. You can also see the theme of pride in this chapter through Dimsdale. Dimsdale is going back to some of the memorable moments, both good and bad, before the scarlet letter issue and reflects. “..and [the girl was] won by the Reverend Mr. Dimmesdale's own sermon” is a good quote to show his pride. In context, this quote seems like…

Vengeance, truth, and loyalty are the base of the novel The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. There are several scenes that are essential in the novel because they develop the plot that leads up to the climax and resolution of the narration. Starting with The Interview in Chapter Four, where the sinner Hester Prynne confirms that the stranger, Roger Chillingworth that she had seen in the crowd before was actually her former husband and that he is in Boston for a macabre reason. The next significant scene is the first real encounter between Hester and Arthur Dimmesdale in the forest in The Pastor and His Parishioner in Chapter 17, where the two characters confront each other and make a decision to escape to Europe together to start a new life and leave everything behind. Furthermore, the final and most influential scene is The Revelation of the Scarlet Letter on Chapter 23,…

In The Scarlet Letter, author, Nathaniel Hawthorne manipulates his protagonist, Hester Prynne, and antagonist, Roger Chillingworth to manifest examples of rugged individualism in his novel. Hawthorne uses Hester Prynne's character to demonstrate rugged individualism by her character confessing the identity of her "fellow sinner" (Hawthorne 212) a secret. In chapter 3 Hester is presented by a man who goes by the name of Mr. Wilson who insists on Hester revealing her partner associated with her adulterous measures. Wilson even attempts to entice Hester into revealing their identity by getting her to believe "That, and thy repentance, may avail to take the scarlet letter off thy breast,"(Hawthorne 134) but Hester is adamant that she will "Never."…

Time is winding down and the past thirty nine weeks has been nothing short but amazing. It has been full of different emotions and feelings. From the stretching of the skin to the sudden movement I have never felt before. It was all a new experience, but the feeling was indescribable. After a restless night, the sunrise appeared before I knew it. The pain was unbearable, but after several hours and a couple of good pushes you were here. I was extremely exhausted, but the relief was absolutely amazing. At first sight I fell in love with you. Not for how you look, just for who you are. I never thought I could feel affection like this. What is this? Is this how it's assume to feel or even resemble? It's kind of insane how you, only one individual,…

When we first started going out, my friends and family noticed a difference in me. I'd come home from school and my family would say, "You're smiling a lot." You're an all-around amazing guy, intelligent, sweet, funny, adorable... the list goes on. I appreciate you. I cherish you. You kept me strong, kept me believing. Over the last year and 9 months you have sincerely been everything I have ever hoped for in a partner and so much more than I ever believed I could find in another person.
