Revolution: a forcible overthrow of a government or social order for a new system. When you think of a revolution, you think of overthrowing governments, rulers, or countries, right? Well, put a new perspective on the word. In my opinion social media isn’t just a fad, but a lifestyle now. What I believe makes a revolution is, change, development, learn to live with each other’s differences, stand together for a cause, and last longer than just a couple of years. To begin, the amount of people using this media increases each year. In December 2012, 71% of women and 62% of men say they use social media. In 2005, it was only about 8% of all internet users. To start, to have a revolution you need change. Social media has changed the face of our lifestyles. We don’t check the paper every morning, but now it’s Twitter, Facebook, etc. Secondly, in the revolution there is development. We have developed immensely with our phones, computers, and so much more that is focused around social media. For example, at&t made a phone to access Facebook easily. Third, to live with our differences. We take our opinions to social media, and everyone has a different opinion. Furthermore, we stand together for a cause. Social media helps us out for reaching out to people, learn about tragedies, and help. After the terrible tragedy that happened recently in Oklahoma, the hashtag “#okcrelief” quickly became the most trending. People care and gave, in which all of this came from social media. Lastly, social media will last a long time and isn’t going away for a long time. We use social media as a source of information, 78% of consumers trust peer recommendation. “We no longer search the news, the news finds us,” in which Erik Qualman says about social media in his youtube video of Social Media
