1. Committees of Observation and Safety were significant in the years just before the Revolutionary War. Explain what they were and why they were so significant.
These Committees were designed to monitor the activities of the Colonists to ensure that they did not buy or use British goods during the boycotting when the coercive acts were put in to play. They proved valuable when the British tried to shutdown Colonist government systems and put the rule to the job of the committees. They also aided in the transition to democracy after Independence due to the Colonist trust they had in them.

He was a chairman of a Committee of Safety and he was not only the one who urged Paul Revere and others like William Dawes, and Samuel Prescott to ride at midnight when the British came to alert the Minutemen (of course we know that Revere and Dawes never completed their rides and only Prescott and Israel Bissell did). He died while attempting to rally the militia by being shot between the eyes. However, this lead to a massive revolt of people attempting to aid no matter their color or if they were free or enslaved.
3. In detail, explain the significance of Thomas Paine’s writing in regards to gaining support for the war. Was it propaganda?
Thomas Paine’s writing was indeed propaganda as it was biased to encourage those undecided to the Colonist cause and feel the need for the independence. The work was biased to how the British had oppressed them and did not feature a place in which they were celebrated for their aid. Paine showed the colonists the best way to change their habits in favor of ridding the British from their lives and finally being a full self-sufficient country.
