Christopher was placed in filial-care with a biological aunt and uncle. According to the case-worker, the couple had an authoritarian and physically punitive approach to parenting. They reportedly refused to comfort Christopher and informed his daycare provider to never comfort him. The emotional and physical abuse Christopher endured at his aunt and uncle’s home was extreme enough to warrant his removal from their care six months later.

M believes that Mom and Dad are not parenting the two boys correctly. Both daughters have voiced their concern regarding Mom’s stress level. They have both expressed their love for Christopher but have wondered if it would be better to send Christopher to a new home. They state this is only due to Mom’s obvious lack of rest and increased strain since Christopher joined the family.
It is also important to note that the boys’ behaviors reportedly increase directly following Christopher’s scheduled visits with his bio-family. The half-sisters have SKYPE visitation rights, but they often do not show up for scheduled visitation. Christopher’s mother has weekly visitations at the DSHS office. At the time of writing this paper, the case worker had begun the parental rights termination process. The case worker also informed the family that the process is long and often traumatic for the children involved.
