Rhetorical Analysis Of Donald J. Trump's Inauguration

Trumps Inauguration Speech On January 20, 2017, a new man was brought into office, Donald J. Trump, whose influence and power will lead our nation for the next four to eight years. Donald Trump obviously has a different style than our past president, Barack Obama, speech wise. However, Mr. Trump’s use of rhetorical strategies in his inauguration speech lead many to be in awe due to his nationalistic diction and his flowing syntax. President Trump’s feelings of nationalism and unification are clearly portrayed through his diction. Trump views his victory at presidency as a win for the people. For example, he mentions, “We, the citizens of America, are now joined in a great national effort to rebuild our country and to restore its promise for all of our people.” His use of the phrase, “We, the citizens of America”, in the quote above shows how he views himself as a citizen. Furthermore, the significance of him viewing himself as a citizen is that it proves that he does not see himself as superior to his people but as one of them which really appeals to his audience. In addition, he creates allusion by using the same phrase,
For example, during his campaign, he used to speak in a straightforward matter like he is now, but in a more obnoxious matter, so hearing him speak with such a powerful statement really caught the attention of the nation. In conclusion, Donald Trump’s use of rhetorical strategies truly made his inauguration speech stronger. People will respect him more now due to how he can speak in such a respectable matter. The use of rhetorical strategies in his speech should us another side of Trump I am sure not many of us have seen before.
