Body
Martin Luther King’s voice is steady and powerful in his delivery. MLK stands at the podium for the entire
speech but I do not feel it is a detriment to the delivery. However, I find myself wanting to look up the words he used in a dictionary and I feel his audience felt the same way. He makes the topic relevant by associating it to “cashing a check” and “insufficient fund” which a struggling person can relate. He also restates “I Have a Dream” and “Let Freedom” throughout the speech. MLK also puts the dream back on the people by making them accountable for his or her actions. He also asks them to continue to move forward and not go back. MLK also calls out the southern states where racism and inequality was and are the most prevalent.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Martin Luther King’s speech is strong by repeating phrases, restating facts, raising his hands, and using awe-inspiring words. This has allowed his speech to continue to be relevant in today’s society. Racism still exist and with social media is seen as a prevalent issue. While slaves are no longer kept in chains, racism is still a major problem, and police brutality still exist.
