During the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington in February 1994, Mother Teresa met then-U.S. first lady Hillary Clinton and delivered a speech saying abortion is the act of a mother murdering her own child. Hillary, who has been an active pro-abortion campaigner, was listening to the speech beside her husband, then-President Bill Clinton, the National Catholic Register recalls.

Fast forward to 10 years after Mother Teresa’s pro-life speech, Hillary mentioned in her memoirs that the Catholic nun was “unerringly direct.” The Democratic presidential nominee also acknowledged that the two of them differed in their opinions on abortion.
Mother Teresa continued to try changing Clinton’s stance on abortion. Although the latter never changed her views on the issue, she appreciated the “loving and heartfelt” way that Teresa delivered her admonitions.
