Rhetorical Analysis Susan Cain

Susan Cain composed a TED Talk about the power of introverts. She wants her audience to change the way society thinks about and treats introverts. Cain clearly uses all three appeals logos, ethos, and pathos to enhance her speech. She appeals to her audience’s pathos with her first anecdote. By sharing the story of how she would rather read at camp and was called “mellow” she gains the audience’s sympathy. According to Cain a third to half of the population are introverts. A third or more of the audience can relate to what she is saying first hand. If they can’t relate first hand she states, “your coworkers and your spouses and your children”, this phrase creates a reason for everyone in the audience to care about what she is saying because
