The first essay is a summary and response of the essay “The Human Cost of an Illiterate Society” written by Jonathan Kozol. The target audience is the literate who can read, and have the ability to do something about the illiteracy problem. The purpose of the essay is to raise awareness of the illiteracy issue in the United States and to inform how the vast amount of people live daily dealing with this problem. The revisions I made for this essay include adding an audience, in my first draft I mentioned the author and purpose but realized there was no mention of audience. The target audience is women who’ve had their heart broken before in the past. The purpose is to prove that not all men or relationships are the same and that things may not be the way they seem. I made revisions to this essay’s title error and grammar corrections, but the biggest revision I made was the target audience. I had originally put the target audience as the woman that is in the music video and the purpose as a testimonial of his love to her. I changed my audience to an external audience outside of the music video and chose broken hearted women because I feel it is the audience best
