To start this off, on page 117, Chapter 17, Sarah says, “My mom drowned in the tsunami.” Noticeably, it was right for Sarah to say that her mom drowned in the tsunami because it was pretty clear that her mother was one of the thousands of people that died. Secondly, Ruslan says in Chapter 17 on page 117, “No brothers or sisters. My mother died when I was little. Maybe I am lucky.” If you think about it, that quote means that Ruslan feels bad for Sarah and Peter since their mother died in the tsunami where as Ruslan’s mother died when he was little and it wasn’t as bad as understanding the death. Obviously, Sarah feels emotionally bad for Ruslan. The book states, “Sarah understood in terrible logic of that, although she sensed a certain bewildered ache in his words, that he should have no mother at all.” (Chapter 16, page 117). Unfortunately, that means that Sarah could tell that Ruslan hurt talking about his mother and that he rather have no mother at
