The innocence shrouded in the design of Rick and Morty, and it's completely polar storyline, is the most appealing factor for viewers. It is somewhat symbolic, indicating a deeper meaning behind it’s exterior. A first-time viewer of the show would be presented with it’s seemingly cartoonish introduction, and a storyline that most likely begins as any other cartoon would, a few inappropriate jokes, weird adventures, and some dark humor. Perfectly normal, right? Well, not exactly. As it is stated in the beginning of the series, “Ricks don’t care about Mortys”, however, it becomes apparent this Rick is an exception. Although Mortys’ original purpose is solely to cancel out their Rick’s brainwaves, so they won’t be discovered by the intergalactic federation, he is the only Rick to ever genuinely care about his grandson. So far, this claim has held true, as Rick shows a willingness to abandon, or swap the rest of his family members, especially Jerry (Beth’s husband), whom he passionately despises, because of his idiotic, and wimpy
