Inanna is a goddess from the Mesopotamian culture. She is the goddess of love, welfare, and fertility. There are various art pieces the depict different gods or goddesses but one piece I found that involves Inanna is a cylinder seal called the Assur cylinder (Sumerian). This clay art was created in 3500 BC and was made in Susa in south-western Iran. These were normally located in various countries where cuneiform writing was used. Cylinder seals are usually made out of stone and have engraved designs on them. These would be rolled out on clay and would leave a back to front impression onto the clay. There were actually quite a bit of uses for these seals. The main use was for signatures and identified ownership. Cylinder seals can tell us a lot about what was happening during the time(s) they were created.…

On the other hand the Roman system of Alimenta shares a great deal of similarities with modern welfare as it is currently known, the Roman Empire being the birth place of many currently utilized government systems. Originally Alimenta actually began under the reign of the first Roman emperor known as Augustus, at this time it was referred to as Cura Annonae which stood for "care for the grain supply", as the name would imply this particular system under Augustus dealt more with grain than financial status. The Cura Annonae focused upon attempting to provide rations of grain to citizens of the Roman Empire who could not themselves afford to purchase food for themselves or their families, this is the first recorded instance in history of a system…

"By about 6,000 years ago, people in Mexico had domesticated a tropical grass called teosinte, beginning a process that would radically alter the plant, turning into maize, responsible for feeding people across the world today" (Zorich, 2015). As we know food today is much different than thousands of years ago in the lives of our ancestors. There have been many changes to our food that we consume today, especially in regards to corn. Everyone loves a sweet, tender "corn on the cob" in the summer time. Although this piece of food is delicious, it has been through numerous mutations to get to what is in modern society. By the 1400s, corn was a staple in the diet of those in Mexico and the Americas according to Jo Robinson' article (Robinson). The corn in the early days was to be known as Teosinte. It contained, little, sugar, a lot of starch and protein compared to the corn we see today, which is of a white, yellow color. The corn today lacks the nutrients, much of what teosinte contained.…

We had four periods a day and first period started at 7:45 and we was on a block schedule meaning our classes was an hour and thirty minutes long. We had the same classes everyday so more learning during the day and less homework. Immediately after school we had football practice four days a week and played on Fridays. High school Is a good preparation for college, even though while in high school you will never expect what happens in college. The war on drugs is becoming increasingly difficult to fight year after year. I would agree that most drugs are harmful to one’s wellbeing and should be prohibited and taken off the market. What if there was a drug that was used for spiritual purpose and could also help one with an addiction to alcohol and even harmful opiates such as heroin and cocaine. The drug Ibogain is exceptionally controversial; “Ibogaine is a natural alkaloid extract from the root bark of the African shrug Tabernanthe Iboga” (4). Ibogaine does not pose a threat to the human society, in fact it is non-addictive and the physical and psychological effects are “transitory, and wear off completely…
