Cost of labor is lower in other regions of the World. Lower costs of labor means smaller organizations that cannot afford a customer server center can outsource the task to an overseas organization that specializes in the task. However, the organization needs to perform extensive research on the vendor who will be receiving the transfer of work.” Quality of Work “Transnational IT operations also face challenges with quality of work. A concept that has been around for years is pair programming. “Pair programming is a practice in which two programmers work side-by-side at one computer, continuously collaborating on the same design, algorithm, code, or test.” (Williams, L. and Kessler, R., 2000) “Organizations need to address how best to bring together programmers in various locations working on the same application.” “Quality of work needs to take into consideration how employees feel about the work being performed and the organization for which he or she works. Cultural differences and language may provide a barrier during contract negotiations. The resulting breakdown affects the quality of work as the transnational IT operations attempt to accomplish a project.
