Riot After Riot 1700s
During the 1700’s, in a kingdom in England, there were a lot of people in poverty, and very few people that had money. And those people were the royal family, and their helpers. The king was, Alexander The Great II, the queen was, Queen Elizabeth, and the prince was, Alexander the Great III.

The one thing that Alexander wanted to do was give to the poor. But, his parents didn’t like that. They were greedy and they wanted more money than you could possibly believe. They even said publicly, “I want money, and I want it now!”

The townspeople were furious at the royal family because of their greediness. They would start a riot after riot after riot because of the unfairness. The townspeople made everything for the royal family and got nothing

Many people think that Alexander the Great was truly great because of all his accomplishments, but not all of the things he did were great. He did lots of cruel things to people and animals just because he wanted to gain more power. Alexander has killed approximately 100,000 people only in four major battles (Alexander’s Legacy Doc E). Alexander was a prince who was born in macedonia of 356 BC. Alexander was very arrogant. He was taught by a philosopher Aristotle. He taught him subjects like, politics, sports, and warfare. Philip, Alexander’s father built the macedonian army into a deadly fighting machine, this sparked alexander’s interest and was eager to to lead the army. And Alexander got his chance to lead at the age of 20, because Philip…

Alexanders respect of other people's beliefs was one of the biggest reasons he is considered great. While other conquerors in this time period, like the persians, would try to destroy and get rid of other people's cultures Alexander would study and learn from them. He did this to such an extent in Egypt that they even referred to him as a god and pharaoh. In other places he would study their beliefs, and try to understand them as a people, and he may have been doing this to learn how to control them, but based on his character it is more likely that he did it so learn how to respect them.…

The last half of the 1800’s was a time of conflict because blacks wanted to be treated equal citizenship as the whites. This was a time of conflict of race and gender and equal citizenship amongst them all. The African Americans were brought here, forced into slavery, sold, and trade, as if they were livestock. Even though slaved were freed when the civil war ended in 1865, the conflict between the blacks and whites were still strong. Blacks still had no voice , and many whites still fought for them not to be treated as equal to whites. Segregation became the new slavery with modifications, like blacks had no land, education was limited, and property was destroyed. Even after blacks had fought for their rights and own place in society, with little success, however with their economic conditions and the Compromise of the 1877 this caused their success to diminish.…

In the seventeen hundreds, before the revolution had begun, France’s political system, social structure, and religious ideas were slightly changing. Louis XVI took the throne in 1774 with his wife, Marie Antoinette and the people’s hope that he was going to revive his country. While the king and queen were living their luxurious life, were not in touch with the suffering and misery of the peasantry. Louis got involved in the American Revolution by sending aid, which had the effect of putting France into more debt. After this, The Estates General’s power rested with the first and the second estates and times for the peasants were bad as Arthur Young, an English writer on agriculture, economics, and social statistics, points out in his Plight of the French Peasants. They were working in harsh conditions, paying heavy taxes, and they only had one vote in the Estates General. The bourgeoisie longed for equality amongst all citizens in society and so they asked for another vote. The…

"Liberation for gay people is to define ourselves how and with whom we live, instead of measuring our relationships by straight values… To be free territory, we must govern ourselves, set up our own institutions, defend ourselves, and use our own energies to improve our lives" (Wittman, 75). Carl Wittman's Refugees from Amerika: A Gay Manifesto, drew together many of the themes dealing with gay liberation. This quote demonstrates the goals of the gay and lesbian movement, a movement which many believe started with the Stonewall riots. The Stonewall riots proved to homosexuals that a sufficient amount of time had passed that they were persecuted and maltreated and it was time to speak up for their rights, resulting in the gay and lesbian movement.…
