Riverside County Research Paper
Riverside is a city located within the Riverside County, California. Riverside is located near the Inland Empire metropolitan area. The county’s pollution is over 2 million people. Making the Riverside County the fourth largest county in California by pollution. According to the United States Census Bureau, the population per square mile is 303.8 and land area per square mile is 7,206.48. Riverside County is considered part of the Greater Los Angeles. Riverside County is approximately 60 miles away from Los Angeles.
Riverside County is made of 28 cities; Banning, Beaumont, Blythe, Calimesa, Canyon Lake, Cathedral City, Coachella, Corona, Desert Hot Springs, East vale, Hemet, Indian Wells, Indio, Jurupa Valley, Lake Elsinore, La Quinta, Menifee, Moreno Valley, Murrieta, Norco, Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Perris, Rancho Mirage, Riverside, San Jacinto, Temecula, and Wildomar. The surrounding neighborhood counties are Imperial County, Los Angeles County, Orange County, San …show more content…
Temperatures in the summer generally average in the 90° F but often exceed 100° F with some low humidity. During the winter, high temperatures average in the high 60s° F but do not rise above 55° degrees during rainy days. January is the coldest month, averaging 68°- 43°F, while the hottest month is August averaging between 95°-64° F. Riverside receives 10.4 inches of precipitation annually mostly occurring in the winter and early spring.
Riverside’s means of transportation consist of three major freeways, the I-215, the Route 60, and the State Route 9. Riverside also provide public transportation it has two Metro-Link commuter rail stations, Riverside-Downtown and Riverside-La Sierra both served by the Inland Empire and the Orange county. Riverside is also home to the Riverside Municipal Airport. Although, the airport is use for private and business aviation it is the only airport within Riverside’s city

    San Diego County is located in the south eastern corner of California and lies geographically north of the Mexican Border and south of Orange and Riverside County. (Appendix 1, Fig 1.) It covers an area greater than the states of Rhode Island and Delaware combined, measuring 4,525.52 square miles.("San Diego County," 2010) In addition to San Diego City, the county comprises of 18 incorporated cities. It is has 193 square miles that are home to 18 Native American reservations. While not the largest in population or in acreage, San Diego has most reservations of any county in the country. The county has many diverse and unique district areas, (Appendix 1, Fig 2) which range from Oceanside in the north county, which is home to the Camp Pendleton Marine base, to San Ysidro at the southern end of the county that has the busiest international land border crossing in the world. (San Ysidro Intermodal Transportation Center Study) In the eastern part of the county, the climate is warmer and more rural with agricultural farming in Ramona and El Cajon, a community of 100,000 where quarter of the population is of Iraqi decent and has the second largest Iraqi population in America. (Iraqi American, 2014) The western part of the county is has large stretches of prime beach front property in Del Mar, La Jolla and Rancho Santa Fe, that has some boasts of some of the most expensive real estate in the country. San Diego has a semi –arid, Mediterranean climate with an average temperature of 72 degrees and 300 sunny days. There is little precipitation and in 2014 the governor of California declared a statewide drought emergency. (Governor Brown Declares Drought State of Emergency, 2014) The mild sunny climate along with numerous family orientated tourist attractions such as the world renowned San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, LEGOLAND, Balboa park and 7o miles of pristine beaches make San Diego a year round visitor magnet…

    Baja California is one of the 31 states in Mexico. It is both the northernmost and westernmost state of Mexico. But before becoming a state in 1953, the area was known as the North Territory of Baja California. Additionally, there is a large immigrant population from the United States due to its proximity to San Diego and the cheaper cost of living compared to San Diego. There is also a significant population from Central America. Many immigrants moved to Baja California for a better quality of life and the number of higher paying jobs in comparison to the rest of Mexico and Latin America. Baja California is the twelfth largest state by area in Mexico. Its geography ranges from beaches to forests and deserts. The backbone of the state is the Sierra de Baja California, where the Picacho del Diablo, the highest point of the peninsula, is located.
