Road Trip Research Paper
One day me and a couple of friends were on a road trip to Maryland to go see our brothers basketball game. We rode in my friends new car to see if it was a good running car. About 40 minutes into the ride the oil light came on. We pulled over to see what the problem was. We popped the hood to see if anything looked off but nothing looked wrong. Not too long after a cop pulled behind us. The cop asked us what was the issue with the car and asked everyone for ID's. While the cop was checking our IDs me and my friends were discussing whether or not we should continue the road trip or just head back home. We all agreed to continue the journey. By then the cop was back with our ID's and he told us to be safe. Before we pulled off we all prayed that we would arrive safely. The weather is nice, the tunes were great. We were on our way! About 35 mins from the basketball game the car turned off while we were on the highway. We made sure the hazards were on and tried to get over to the …show more content…

Ten minutes right after that the car cut off again. We pulled over to the shoulder again and this time the car wouldn't start. By this time we were only 20 minutes from the game. So close but not close enough. We called AAA and waited 4 hours. No exaggeration, 4 hours in the car just waiting. We were stuck in Columbia, Maryland on a Sunday around 3 pm. So I guess that's why it took so long but I still don't think it should ever take that long for a tow truck to come. All of our stomachs started to growl so we ordered Domino’s Pizza. The pizza came in no more than 30 minutes. The tow truck finally came and we were on our way to the house in Maryland about 40 mins from where the car broke down. We then arrived, the tow truck dropped the car in front of their house. I ended up going to my sisters house. On my way there I found $200. I was very grateful for that. That was how I was put in a bad situation but got some good out of

Saturday afternoon on 7/31/12, i was patrolling in front of Bill's Card Shop when i noticed a customer leaving the Sports Bar & Grill. The customer appeared to have trouble walking, but they were not causing any trouble. As i continued patrolling the grounds i heard a crash, and i immediately went to go see what had happened. When i arrived i saw two cars that had seemed to have struck each other in the parking lot in front of Bill's Card Shop. I proceeded to the accident and notice that a Black Ford Escort, driven by a 25 year old female and a Blue Honda Civic, driven by a 45 year old male i saw leave the Sports Bar and Grill had collided. The Blue Honda Civic apparently backed into the Black Ford Escort, with the information gathered i called…

Long Drive was a term used by Texas ranchers to describe the route they took to herd cattle from Missouri to the far reaches of Kansas to access the railroad in hopes of moving their livestock up to the northeast where they would profit more. Unfortunately due to the Civil War there was an abundance of cattle in the state which led to a decrease in monetary gain, so having the option to sell their cows up north was very significant to their wellbeing.…

I wish to first share with you a story. Many years ago when I was working in Sacramento I had to make a trip for work to San Los Opisbo. The funeral was to be in the early afternoon so I could make the trip in one day. I got all my items together. I had maps and directions from map-quest. I knew my direction and I was going to make it there. I got there in no problem but noticed that I took me a little longer then I had planned. Once there service was over I got in the van that I was driving and looked over the map and saw that I just needed to drive on the road I was on and then turn near the town of Avenal and that would get me on I-5. I started out and began driving. After a while I noticed that I hadn't taken the right turn that I had planned on doing. I pulled over and saw that if I stayed on this road I could go into the town of Coalinga and then get I-5 again. But it was going to be more driving on this quite road. I said to myself well I will just have to go faster to make up the time. It felt like forever but I know it was not but I came up over a rise and saw the familiar outline of a highway patrol car. I pulled to the right of the road right as I passed him. His lights came on and over to me and came around behind me. He came over to my window where I had my drivers license and insurance waiting for him. He askeme where I was heading. After a long explanation he saw all my maps and told me that I was going to fast and that I needed to slow down. He let me off but said that if he ever caught me again He would “throw the book at me” –…

When I was 18, my family took a trip to Cancun for Spring Break. I absolutely loved the beaches and palm trees, the white sand, hot sun and blue waves. Ever since then I have had a real passion for tropical islands. My favorite and perhaps the most beautiful Islands I've researched are the Cayman Islands. I've only seen pictures and heard stories but I've already decided that's where I am getting married. I still however, don't know anything about the islands. My love for these islands and my thirst for knowledge on the topic has driven me to do more research and find out the history behind the Cayman Islands. I want to know everything about them, so far the only thing I know is that there are three islands, Grand…

The Race Between Cross Country and Track Cross country and track are my two favorite sports. I love running through the woods in cross country and the competitive atmosphere of track. However, I like to run cross country more than I like to run track mainly because cross country has a more interesting running environment. But cross country and track are more similar than most people think. Track and cross country are both extremely similar and yet extremely distinct from one another. Different, but yet similar, in the sense of preparation, practices, meets, and racing. How much preparation an athlete puts in before a meet will affect how well they will perform. For example, in cross country, it is highly recommended that cross country members run over the summer, so they will be in shape by…

People call me old because I like to drink coffee, and for some reason I decided to part take in about three cups before we left home. If you don’t know by now, coffee has a side effect of building up liquid in your body to pee. I was wide awake, but praying we would at least pit stop at a rest area. I saw the nearest sign for the rest stop on Louisiana’s border, and clearly told my grandmothers husband Mr. Lee to stop when we come up to it. He replied “I got you sir.” We drove smooth past it, not even an attempt with the turn signal. I felt played while he howled with laughter. I wanted to smack him smooth across the back of that shiny bald ass head of his. I was in mid thought when I heard the sirens, and a police car zipped…

Set in an almost lifeless post-apocalyptic world, “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy follows a father and son’s struggle for survival through chaotic situations while walking towards south on “the road” with very limited resources, where they encounter numerous difficulties, including having to deal with cannibals who patrol the road; food shortages which cause them to have to go on for days without eating; and inclement weather conditions. The author uses the obstacles the father and son face on the road as a metaphor for the different hardships humans encounter in life, in order to demonstrate that adversity allows humans to explore humanity and human values, thus discovering their true self.…

The day started off as any other normal day but I would soon find out that this day was different. Like any other teenager I loved going out with my friends and so like any other Friday evening I was going out with my friends. I was going to go to my friend’s house to pick him up and we were then going to get something to eat. I got to his house picked him up and we left to go get something to eat. We were halfway there when I got a phone call from one of my other friends that he wanted to come along too and so I turned the car around still on the phone and stopped at a red light. As soon as I came to a full stop two men on a motorcycle stopped in front of my car and one of the men had a gun in his hand. The man with the gun ran up to my slightly cracked window and yelled “Open the f’n window.” At this point I didn’t fully understand what was going on so I closed my window. The man then pointed the gun at me and started screaming, “open the window or…

I and, two other friends were on our way to a party in Trenton, NJ, we were coming from the Bronx so it was going to take us about 2 hours to get there. My friend Jade was driving, I was in the passenger seat and Mikey was in the back seat. We were on the New Jersey turnpike and, we were looking for an exit that had a rest stop because Jades GPS device made us take the wrong turn and, we were kind of lost. While we were driving I saw a sign saying that there was a rest stop coming up in 5 miles, I took off my seat belt really fast because I wanted to reach over to the back to get something out my bag and, Mikey had taken a nap. In the mist of doing that Jade was switching lanes so she can already be on the side where you exit so she wouldn’t have trouble doing so when we got closer. She didn’t see a car getting on the turnpike so she didn’t bother to stop, the car ended up hitting my side of the car really hard forcing the car to turn on its side. When I woke up from blacking out, I was stretched over my friend Jade who was driving and my body was half way out of her window, Jade was still passed out and, Mikey was laid out in the backseat. It all happened so fast, I couldn’t even try to prepare for it.…
