I thought that people like Andrew Carnegie, John D. Rockefeller, and J.p Morgan were all robber barons. Because they would employ people and put them in these unsafe, and unsanitary conditions. Also they made education for immigrants coming in difficult because even though they built libraries and hospitals would the immigrants would be illiterate and not be able to pay for hospital bills. Lastly theses men were robber barons because they were using vertical integration and horizontal integration to take over small businesses and to raise prices on railroads.
Firstly when immigrants were coming over they had no food, no home, no job so they would work for very low wages;that does not mean that the conditions in the workplace have to be unsafe and people like Andrew carnegie he was just exploiting the immigrants by making them work for seven-days a week , and daily work 12 or more hours. They were also not entitled to vacation, sick leave, unemployment compensation, or reimbursement for injuries suffered on the job. But What carnegie, rockefeller, and morgan did was they made libraries and hospitals. If you think about the immigrants and the natives are all illiterate to by building these library it was not to give better opportunities to the immigrants it was to put their names on another building. I think that it is a nasty circle of corruption because the robber barons would work these people day and night and choose to make things like hospitals which because they are on such low wages and don’t get reimbursement for injuries suffered at the job they could never afford to get them medical care. So all the “ good things” that these robber barons built they were just another building to put there name
