When we create the rock candy it will take about a week or more for it to fully form. While we do this project we hope to understand the dynamics of physical and chemical changes better. Over the course of this project we will be watching the rock candy form and change from the sugar water to the solid crystal. When we make the rock candy we will watch it day by day to see the formation and it will also help with understanding of bonds. When the crystals form it is because of ionic bonds. When we make the rock candy we will have to use materials and time. To make rock candy you need a jar, skewers, sugar and water. We will also need the assistance of a dorm parent so that we can use their stove to heat the water and carry out the procedure. After the water is poured and everything is in place, the jar should remain untouched and in a steady climate. This is to prevent any disruptions occurring to the bonding and crystallizing.
While our project may not take as much skill as creating a comic book or video, this is a great way to learn about bonding and it will also teach us to keep track of the progress that occurs over time. We will put just as much time in as any of the other groups are putting in and at the end of our project we will have a sugary
