Rocket Propelled Grenades
It was early morning the sun was peeking over the horizon. The military helicopter was cruising at about 200 feet air to ground level, departing a river valley base in Afghanistan.
Everything seemed routine until a loud bang occurred and the helicopter yawed to the right. As the crew chief looked back, there was a huge hole on the left sponson with the sun rays making its was into the cabin. With a quick assessment from pilots and crew, the conclusion was made.
The helicopter had been hit by a rocket propelled grenade (RPG). That was a brisk story of a personal experience back in 2010. Every war fanatic has heard of a rocket propelled grenade, but many don’t know the multiple uses and the history this deadly devices brings.
I chose to tell a story of how someone was effected by the rocket propelled grenade to illustrate the use of the device and overall purpose to destroy personnel, equipment, and vehicles. Once I got that point across I jumped straight into the thesis sentence. It fell well into the last sentence and summed up that many people don’t know what they. Then inviting the reader to follow the writer into the next paragraph with letting them know that the history and uses are interesting.
The Essay has to explain the history and uses of the Rocket Propelled Grenade so I have come up with a rough outline of the Essay.
