Rodger began the program quiet and hesitant about his new environment. As Rodger’s time in the group increased, Rodger’s participation started to grow. After 2 weeks, Rodger decided to take a leadership role in the group because he was becoming frustrated that group members were not sharing enough information. Rodger decided to form a new group rule that would encourage other group members to participate more. Rodger discussed his relationship. Rodger discussed his dynamics with his children and how his substance abuse and criminal thinking has negatively impacted them. Rodger discussed having multiple overdoses before his incarceration and that the next overdose might kill him. Rodger shared
with the group his childhood experiences and how those experiences negatively affected him into adulthood. Rodger has given insightful feedback to others and has received constructive feedback in a positive manner.

The client discussed his criminal thinking and how he wants to improve his decision making. The client named 5 victims that are the most effective by his criminal thinking. The client should remorse and empathy for the ones that he has wronged. The client has improved his criminal thinking patterns and is displaying more prosocial ways of thinking and communicating.
Relapse prevention

When entering into the program, Rodger wanted to develop a relapse prevention plan that would lead to long-term sobriety. Rodger explored his previous relapses and the constant themes which lead to relapse. Rodger explored this thoughts, triggers, and relapse warning signs. Rodger has developed several relapse prevention plans and received feedback from his peers. Rodger explored the reasons why he would prefer long-term sobriety over using substances.
