Role of Media in Politics of Pakistan
Definition of Media:
The word media is derived from a Latin plural word Medium. Media is a tool which is used to collect and deliver information and data for some specific purpose.
Types of Media:
There are many types of media;
1. Advertising media
2. Mass media
3. Print media
4. Social media
5. Broadcast media
6. Digital media
7. Electronic media
8. Multimedia
9. News media
10. New media
11. Published media
12. Recorded media
13. Interactive media
14. Hyper media Mass Media: We live in the age of information explosion where the world is like Global Village. Mass media is the thinking mode of any society and it is its vital function. It includes all means of mass information and communication.
Following are the types of mass media;
1. Print media
2. Electronic media
3. Interactive media
Advertising media: Advertising media includes various types of media, content, buying and placement for advertising.
Broadcast media: Broadcast media conveys information through mass communication networks.
Digital media: This type of electronic media is used to store, transmit or receives digitized information.
Electronic media: In this type communication delivered via electronic or electromechanical energy.
Hyper media: It is the type of media which is with hyperlinks.
Multimedia:
In this type of media, communications that incorporate multiple forms of information content and processing are placed.
New media: It’s a new type of media in which mostly information technology is used. It is the new form of traditional media which involves the power of computer and information technology.
News media: This type of mass media focused on communication news.
Print media: In this type of media communication is delivered via paper or canvas.
Published media: Any media which made available to public is called published media.
Social media The type of media which spread through social interaction.
Recording media: The devices used to record information are recording media.

Role of Media in Pakistan Politics: All types of media are plying important role in politics but Social media has become the most powerful sours for news updates such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, Blogger, MySpace, YouTube and many others. Social media is the type of media with social interaction as a superset beyond social communication and techniques. Pakistani people, who don’t take interest in politics, are now taking interest in politics due to social media. Now a day they are connected to social media websites. If someone missed the bulletin, they can use these websites and find any news.
An example of a political party; 1 year ago, everyone knows Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf's importance in Pakistan's politics. In last election, PTI boycotted the election. In election 2002, Only Imran Khan got the seat. But during last 6 month, PTI hired its workers in social websites. They made the environment of PTI in political ground, from which people are thinking about its victory in next election. Facebook is the most popular social media website used in Pakistan, over 8 million people are the users of Facebook in the country out of a global total of more than 1 billion.1.9 million are using Twitter and LinkedIn and 1.2 million people in Pakistan who are using both these. Google Plus and Pinterest appear to have far fewer users in Pakistan, at approximately 64,000 and 115,000 respectively.
Fifty percent of people using Facebook in Pakistan are aged 18-24 years and 25 percent from age 25-34 and overall 70 percent Facebook users are male and 30 percent are females. An amazing fact is that the number of Facebook users has increased by 1 million from June-December 2012.
Print media plays an important role in political issues. A newspaper highlights the important news and scandals about politicians.
