Some of the main characters in this book are Cassie, Little Man, Stacey, The Walisas, Papa, Mama, Big Ma and more but I'm not going to spoil the book for you. My favorite character will have to be Cassie because she is a lot like me she is so sassy.Another character…
While the mysteries kept my attention, my favorite part of this novel was the characters. Todd is a delightful young boy who, while not overly troublesome, gets in his fair share of scrapes. His sisters Libby and Lilly Jean do not start off with much of a role, but they become more important as the novel continues. I found myself laughing with the family, crying with the family, and even getting upset for the family. To me, one of the gifts in writing is to be able to make your audience feel what the characters themselves feel. Ms. Ulmer makes this novel enjoyable by making her characters…
The youngest brother, Vardaman, is very sympathetic as well because he was traumatized when his mother died and he didn’t understand why his brother Cash was so insensitive and careless. We sympathize with Jewel because he is the result of Addie’s secret affair with Whitfield; which would make him the illegitimate child. He also requested to be left alone with his deceased mother for a few days. Last but not least Dewey Dell is one of the most sympathetic characters as well. She is the only daughter, the second youngest child, she is pregnant and she wants to get an abortion. Which leads to one of the least sympathetic characters, MacGowan. He tricked Dewey; he told her he was a doctor and gave her a bogus abortion in exchange for sex. The least sympathetic of the Bundrens is between Anse and Cash. Neither of them care about their family, Cash only cares about his work and they both showed no remorse when the Addie was dying. Instead of mourning, they couldn’t throw her in the coffin fast…
Susan straight gives two different outlooks on motherhood a good mother and a bad mother in Highwire moon you have many different views of good and bad mothers. Many women come from different backgrounds so many kids will be raised differently. Most women will raise their kids in ways that they were raised and some may say that their parenting is bad but that may be the way they raise their children in their culture. Many people have different backgrounds and were brought up around different things Susan points this out several times in the book you have the good mother and bad mothers in my opinion I believe that Sandy and Serafina are examples of good mothers in the book and Callie and…

3. Charles Halloway – Father of William. He is the dynamic character of the novel, as in the beginning he is kind, yet does not care to relate to his son for fear that age shall always get in the way. However, after gaining courage from fighting off the carnival’s evils, he gains admiration, love and friendship from his son.…
Furthermore, her characteristics align with that of the ‘Mammy’ archetype, and she is portrayed as an elderly, loving motherly figure, providing to her family’s needs. However, she is also depicted as somewhat uneducated and bound by the traditions of her past, which reinforces the ‘Mammy’ archetype, of a women who despite being a caring motherly figure, does not know much outside of her household duties due to a lack of opportunity to further educate herself. This ‘uneducated’ attitude can be particularly seen through Mama’s interactions with Beneatha, a more educated and modern young female characters, in their discussions regarding heritage and education. Mama is unable to understand Beneatha’s refusal to assimilate and need to express herself as an African-American women who is proud of her heritage, asking her continuously ‘what is it you want to express?’ This creates a sense of irony around the situation by displaying Mama’s lack of understanding towards Beneatha’s desire to destroy societies black stereotypes, whilst allowing Hansberry to simultaneously reinforce the concept that Mama is a stereotypical character stuck in the ‘Mammy’ archetype and unable to break out of it.…
Fathers' records proposed that numerous fathers felt tested by the beliefs connected to parenting roles, a test that was aggravated by their own particular reserved formal proficiency limits and, their yearning to encourage their children's early educational development. Fathers' opinions about their children's instructive achievement and future possible outcomes were undecided, frequently suggesting their practices, and some of the time were unpredictable with their self-impression of encouraging children's education accomplishment. The researches Gadsden, Vivian and Aisha remind us that low-salary African American fathers are a diverse crowd, not just in their education abilities, proficiency involvements, education planning, and standards…
In short, I adored Pilate; she was honest, in my opinion, cared about her family, even the parts that hated her, and was willing to do whatever necessary to get what she wanted. She seemed like one of the best developed characters in the whole novel. To me she felt the most like a real person, with flaws, good points, and random quirks. Then her daughter Reba, I don't have much to say about her, the text itself called her simple, and her roles in the text were minimal. If I had to say I'd just say that I disliked her. Lastly Hagar was just annoying, She is just a spoiled child. She gets whatever she wants, just because she wants it, and then got upset when that changed. I called this an example of psychological reactance, but I feel like that's a bit of an understatement after finishing the novel. She's, to be blunt, an immature child that eventually quit life, because she couldn't handle…
What are the most important traits of the main character? Your response must be at least 3-5 sentences in length.…
The character I dislike the strongest would be Elmer Foster. I believe he is uppity and lacks common sense. Although Elmer is the “man of the house” I disbelieve he wears the “pants” in the relationship between him and Elsie. I strongly believe Elmer likes to always present himself as right but mostly always is wrong. The event of the Fosters could have simply been avoided if Elmer wasn’t so pigheaded towards his wife. In the end Elmer comes to the conclusion that bad choices produce bad outcomes, and this was a bad outcome.…
The relationship between an author and a reader is needed in all literature. In Motherhood: Who Needs it? the author makes a conscious effort to establish a positive relationship with the audience. The entire tone of the piece was informal which allows a reader to have a good response. When a persuasive piece is not in an informal tone it makes it harder to listen to and more difficult in which to connect. Rollins purposefully made it sound as if a friend was trying to convince you. Being persuaded by a friend is much easier than being persuaded by a stranger.…
The novel I have studied is To Kill a Mockingbird written by Harper Lee. The character I have chosen is Atticus Finch because he is kind and understanding. Atticus expresses everything that a father should be like. He is a man of great strength and courage. He is a teacher, a protector, and a friend. He takes on these responsibilities without hesitation, and cares for Scout and Jem. Some say it's a poor effort at parenthood, but the reader sees that this is what makes him an exemplary father.…
Charlie- He is the main character; Strange & conserved. He seems to over think everything! He's always in his head, trying to think through some of life's great mysteries.
