In this amazing book titled Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry written by Mildred Taylor is a story is about an African American family living in the south during the 1930s. Stacey Logan is the oldest sibling in the Logan family. Stacey is a very kind hearted person and has great leadership skills. He would give you the shirt of his back, literally. It is amazing what he goes through and still keeps calm and happy. One of the best words to describe Stacey Logan would be loyal. Stacey’s friend Jeremy gave him a handmade flute. Stacey wondered why Jeremy had given him the flute. Papa suggested that the flute was in exchange for Stacey’s friendship and loyalty. When Jeremy was leaving the Logan’s house he turned around and said “merry Christmas yall. When Jeremy said that Stacey realized that he must have made a good impression on Jeremy. When Stacey found out that his friend T.J was going to cheat on a test in school he did something about it. He ripped up T.Js cheat sheet. Stacey’s mom (The Teacher) saw him with the paper in his hand and whipped him in front of the whole class. Stacey had to be a very good friend to take a whipping for T.J. T.J and a few other kids were making fun of Stacey’s coat and calling him a preacher because it was too long. T.J told Stacey he would hold on to the coat until Stacey fit into it. Stacey handed over the coat willingly. Stacey didn’t second guess T.J and thought that T.J was helping him. When he told mama about the coat she demanded he go get the coat back. Another one of Stacey’s great characteristics is his leadership. When the kids were walking to school Stacey suggested that they hid on the bank that they were at now instead of taking the chance of getting run of the road by the white bus. They didn’t listen to Stacey and kept walking but before the made it to the next bank the bus came and when they jumped out of the path of the bus they got muddy from head to toe.

    1. The setting for the short novel, Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry, is in the state of Mississippi, in the early 1930’s, which means that it is right during the middle of the Great Depression. I believe the setting is very important to the book because in Mississippi during those times there was a lot of racism and racial segregation, the African Americans people could not do the same things that Caucasian, white people could do. Also the setting is important because if they author had put the book set in a place like New York City the racism would not be the same as if she set the book in a place like Mississippi or really anywhere in the South. In addition the setting is important because if it had been set in the…

It's a fact, when talking on the subject of war, we presume that if the generals and country leaders didn't start them, they would by no means occur. In a book like Storm of Steel by Ernst Junger, though, there seems to be one more requirement, ready and enthusiastic soldiers. Junger would have probably preferred themselves "warriors" or barbarians. It's within this book that Ernst Junger tells the story of a man who describes and most likely believed that the battlefront of World War I was not a awful place to be, in fact that it was a quite magnificent place to be. Without a doubt, the reader can tell that Junger feels it was an honor to able to participate in Kaiser Wilhelm's war for the good of the Fatherland. Ernst Junger was simply an infantry fighter from World War I who never bent to the idea that the German army had been completely defeated and its crusade of conquest ending. He was injured numerous times, and still carried on and continued to fight armed and ready. Because of that perseverance in the name of the Fatherland and the glorification of his effort as portrayed in this book, it's obvious why it's a favorite in Nazi Germany.…

The 1950’s a time where so-called Negros was not allowed to use the same public facilities as whites. Melba Pattillo Beals was one of nine black teenagers who integrated central high school in Little Rock Arkansas, in 1957. At the age of fifteen her life is about to change forever. The book, “Warriors Don’t Cry”, drawn from Melba Beal’s personal diaries is a spellbinding true account of her first year at Central High. I believed that Melba was molded into a warrior due to the conditions of integration. Most of all, she was influence by her mother, grandmother, and the student, Link to overcome all obstacles in her path such as discrimination, racism, and taunting on a daily basis. Although, she was young she was able to make it thru all the pressure of integration, and that’s what a warrior will do.…

“No finer death in all the world than…’ Anything to participate, not to have to stay at home.” This quote is an example of Junger’s view on the war. Does Storm of Steel Glorify War? Yes. Compared to other accounts of World War I, such as the film “All quiet on the Western Front,” Storm of Steel does seem to somewhat promote the war. Junger seems to glorify war by being a hero for participating in it. On the other hand, the film “All Quiet on the Western Front,” completely shows the was as a horrible thing, with a very sad and horrible ending.…
