All people ,eventually, will have to stand when others sit and mindlessly toy with the idea of courage, in other words everyone will be or has been courageous at one point in time. In Mildred Taylor’s book, Roll of thunder hear my cry, Stacey is faced with many challenges throughout the book. The book is set during the 1930’s in the south where racism runs rampant, and with all this racism an African American thirteen year old boy is not going to get treated very well. This character has to show courage throughout the book, For example he shows courage when he orchestrates the demolition of the bus who had been tormenting them. Another example being in final few chapters when he stays behind to make sure his friend is ok.
