Romeo an Juliet Nurse and Friar

The tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is about ‘two star crossed lovers’ separated by their families’ hate toward each other. The author William Shakespeare develops this drama toward the conclusion of the lovers’ inevitable deaths. From time to time, it seems that fate is against Romeo and Juliet. On the other hand, there are times when involvements of other characters change the direction of the play. Two of the characters that shape the tragedy are Juliet’s Nurse and Friar Lawrence. These two characters had motivation and decisions which affected the outcomes of Romeo and Juliet. To begin with, Juliet’s Nurse was very motherly towards Juliet, and Juliet trusted her. The Nurse’s motive was to make Juliet happy. The Nurse cared very much for Juliet and did what she thought was the right idea to help her. Many children do not listen to their parents, but they will listen to another adult who is very close to them. The Nurse gives Juliet advice on what she should and should not do. The Nurse wanted to help Juliet because she cared about her wellbeing. In addition to the Nurse, Friar Lawrence served as a fatherly figure towards Romeo. Like Juliet with her Nurse, Romeo trusted Friar Lawrence and asked for his advice. The Friar’s motivation to help Romeo was to attempt to bring peace between the two feuding houses. It seems to be that the Friar was a little bit selfish with his actions. He wanted peace between the families and so he made decisions without thinking of the possible outcomes. Even though the Friar wanted to help for different reasons, he still cared for Romeo. Throughout the tragedy, Romeo and Juliet repeatedly turn towards the Nurse and Friar Lawrence for guidance. Some of the decisions they made led the lovers to their deaths. The Nurse and the Friar both allowed Romeo and Juliet to see each other, knowing they were going against their parents will.
