In my opinion, the superior film was the older version of Romeo and Juliet. I think the older version was better than the newer one because it fit the setting of the book more. It was more realistic and actually looked like Verona, Italy. The newer version of the film was very unrealistic because they were speaking the lines from the book (which took place a long time ago when people spoke differently) even though the setting of the movie was very modern. I did not understand why they were using words like “Thou” and “Woe” when they had guns and helicopters. The older version was exactly how I pictured the movie to be like. Another reason why I felt like the older version was better was because the newer version skipped a lot of important events that took place in the novel. For example they skipped the part at the end when the two families make peace and the part where Romeo killed Paris. Though this made the movie go faster, which was good but I felt like they should have put more of the important events in the movie. The older film was also better because the actors were very passionate and showed a lot of emotions. Romeo and Juliet looked like they were actually so in love. However, the actors in the newer version were not very good actors. It was like they were just saying their lines. I think both films were very well done and both had pros and cons. I preferred the older version of Romeo and Juliet.
