Romeo and Juliet Movie Review In Verona, Italy, the feud between the Montague and the Capulet families that has been around as long as anyone can remember, breaks out in a street brawl, and is broken up by the Prince of the city. Later that same day, two star-crossed lovers from each family, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, meet at the Capulet’s party and its love at first sight. After the party, Romeo goes into the Capulet’s garden and finds Juliet on her balcony thinking about him. After professing their love for each other, they plan to get married. The next day, they are secretly married by friar Laurence, with the assistance of Juliet’s maid. After the wedding, the two lovebirds plan to meet later and Romeo walks around the town. Soon a fight breaks out between Juliet’s cousin, Tybalt, and Romeo’s best friend, Mercutio. Since Tybalt is Romeo’s new family, he chooses not to fight him until Mercutio is killed by Tybalt. Romeo, out of anger, kills Tybalt to avenge his best friend’s death. Romeo’s punishment for the murder is banishment instead of the death penalty. As this is happening, Juliet’s father, unaware of her marriage to Romeo, arranges for his daughter to marry Count Paris, whom Juliet doesn’t like. Juliet makes up a plan for her to take a potion to make her appear dead and while she is “buried” Friar Laurence informs Romeo of the hoax and then later her escape so they can live together secretly. Standing by to help Juliet out of her tomb, Friar Laurence sends friar john instead to deliver the news but Romeo’s servant sees Juliet dead and tells him before the details of the plan gets to Romeo. In desperation, Romeo goes to Juliet’s tomb to find her “dead” and not being able to stand to be alive while she isn’t, he kills himself. Moments after Romeo dies, Juliet wakes up to find him dead and also kills herself.
