Romeo: “If I may trust the flattering truth of sleep, my dreams presage some joyful news at hand. My bosom’s lord sits lightly in his throne, and all this day an unaccustomed spirit lifts me above the ground with cheerful thoughts. I dreamt my lady came and found me dead— strange dream, that gives a dead man leave to think— and breathed such life with kisses in my lips that I revived and was an emperor. Ah me! How sweet is love itself possessed when but love’s shadows are so rich in joy!”

Response
In this play Romeo has a few dreams and oddly they all come true. But, Romeo doesn’t realize that he should maybe have listened to them. If he had listened to them he could have saved his own life. Earlier in the play Romeo says that he doesn’t want to go to the party because he has a feeling it will result in his death. When he says “I dreamt my lady came and found me dead…and breathed such life with kisses in my lips.” He might as well have had a time machine and watched his own life. When he is talking about his dream, he is happy but he won’t be for long. If he had listened it could have saved him a lot of trouble. But if he had listened to his dreams then the families would have kept on fighting and it probably would have resulted in more deaths. So in a way they sacrificed themselves to bring about peace between their feuding families.
