Romeo and Juliet is a story written by William Shakespeare, an English poet, playwright, and actor, early in his career. The play which is set in Verona and Mantua, Italy in the 1300s, is a story about a long feud between the Montague and Capulet families. This feud causes tragic results for the main characters in the play, Romeo and Juliet. Revenge, love, and a secret marriage force the young star-crossed lovers to grow up quickly and fate causes them to commit suicide in despair. Contrast and conflict are running themes throughout Shakespeare's play.

The events contrast hatred and revenge with love and a secret marriage, forcing the young lovers to grow up quickly and die tragically in the end. Throughout the play, many characters make decisions that are obviously not thought. Suicide should not be an option for dealing with the problems of young love. Romeo and Juliet’s love is really infatuation because true love takes time to build. Romeo and Juliet only knew each other for five days, which is not enough time for anyone to fall in love. In addition, deaths in the end always pulls a string because Romeo and Juliet sacrifice themselves with love. Overall, there were many times in the play where Romeo and Juliet’s deaths could have been prevented. Mercutio’s persuasion towards Romeo, Friar’s decision to lead the marriage and the murder of Tybalt are three mistakes that lead them to death.
