choices, which are harmful to themselves and others. There are numerous examples about Romeo that he could have made better choices that would have changed the consequence of the story. One of the example of Romeo speaking this is:
This passage demonstrate and demolishes that Romeo knows that there could be some consequences for his movements but he is also conscious that his family Montague and Juliet's family Capulet hate each other. . He accepts this without thinking of how they might be treated at their enemy’s house. But he still goes without any danger to Capulet's party, completely knowing that what could happen as a result. In the Capulet’s party, Juliet notice his first love Romeo as he sees him for the first time and unseeingly falls in love with him although she doesn’t know him at all. But after getting to know each other a slight, Juliet says, "Thus from my lips, by thine, my sin is purg’d, then have my lips that they have took, Sin from my lips? O trespass sweetly urg’d! Give me my sin again. [Act I, sc. V, 106-108]. At the Capulet ball, Juliet communicate with his love Romeo for the first time, as she falls in love directly seeing him, although he doesn’t know him, he is a stranger to him. This lead Juliet performance self-centred because she is carelessly in love and does not realize about how her family and Romeo family might react to this but Juliet also does not realize how this relationship with Romeo might affect her and her family because Romeo and Juliet family are different type and both are enemies. The other characters to make very similar careless mistake would be Tybalt. Tybalt finds out that Romeo is in the Capulet's ball but doesn’t know why he is there he doesn’t want to see him in the ball as he think that Romeo is here to cause harm, he wants him to leave. In the play, Tybalt tries to convince Capulet to get Romeo out of there by saying:
This, by his voice, should be a Montague. Fetch me my rapier, boy. What dares the slave come hither, cover'd with an antic face, to fleer and scorn at our solemnity? Now by the stock and honour of my kin, To strike him dead I hold it not a sin, [Act I, sc. V, 53-58].
This passage briefly explains that Tybalt is not sure that if it is Romeo or not because he is just referring the voice of a young man. He is also not even sure who the man is, he just knows that a man is Montague. Tybalt is impulsive and flat rude because when he is sure that Romeo is at the Capulet ball, he directs his sword right away, without even checking When he sees that Romeo is at the party, he sends for his sword right away, without even checking that the party is going on by the Capulet’s family. All of these explanation cause all these characters to make impulsive choice, which forces them to make reckless and poor choices, which effects them and their family in both ways.
When Mercutio who is Romeo's cousin is killed and dead by Tybalt who is Juliet’s cousin makes a huge impact on Romeo as now he seeks for revenge. He has nothing in his mind accept of killing Tybalt now as he cares about his cousin and want to take revenge for his cousin killing. Romeo killed Tybalt and his other cousin Benvolio persuades Romeo to leave the town (crime) place by saying, “Romeo, away, be gone! The citizens are up, and Tybalt slain. Stand not amaz'd: the prince will doom thee death if thou art taken: hence be gone, away! [Act III, sc. I, 132-135]. This line from the play shows that Tybalt is killed by Romeo. It also identifies that the same day, Romeo is marrying Juliet which means that if now Romeo is caught he will definitely be killed as well. This shows that Romeo made a dreadful choice of getting a revenge in a poor way, which will cause him many things such as he will leave his family, the town and his love Juliet. Furthermore, when Juliet finds out that Romeo has killed Tybalt and now she has to marry Paris in order to keep her family happy. She does not accept this proposal, as she already falls too much in love with Romeo as he make a poor choice by accepting a potion given by Friar Lawrence which would make her go to sleep for forty two hours as it will help him …show more content…
to skip the marriage with Paris. But Juliet decides to take the potion and says, “Romeo, Romeo, Romeo! Here's drink - I drink to thee," [Act IV, sc. III, 58-59]. This expression explains that not only Juliet makes poor choices but also is greedy and self -centred. She should have marry Paris and keep her family pleased and happy, she is kind and caring only about herself as she doesn’t think how will Romeo survive without her, what poor choices he will make in order to keep his fate. Added to this the other character in this play that also makes poor and careless choices include Tybalt. He tries everything to throw the city of Verona, Rome into a conflict fighting, instead of accepting the peace between two enemy’s families, he tries to destroy the Capulet family. Also, he can’t accept that Romeo and other from Montague’s family has joined the party of the Capulets. In anger Tybalt tells his servant “Now, by the stock and honor of my kin, to strike him dead I hold not a sin.” [Act III, sc. I, 58-59]. Tybalt is choosing and making a poor choice because Romeo never hurt or harmed Tybalt, but he still wants to kill Romeo because he joined the Capulet’s party. He uses Romeo as a victim for all the Montagues. He just fated Romeo and Juliet because nothing can encourage him to end his hatred, and the lines from the play clearly says that he wants to kill Romeo without having any strong reason against him. All of the characters in this play make impulsive, careless and poor decisions and as a result they face an ultimately death.
After Friar Lawrence helps Juliet to escape her marriage by giving her the potion so she can go to sleep for 42 hours so she can skip her marriage with Paris but when Romeo gets the news from his servant Balthasar which was different as he tell him that Juliet has passed away, Romeo didn’t wait for the letter that explains the whole story as he did not try to find out the truth fact. Romeo didn’t wait as he went to get the potion to kill himself, he goes to the Capulet’s vault where Juliet is lied. Romeo take the potion by saying, “Here’s to my love! [Drinks] O true apothecary, Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die. [Dies]” [Act V, sc. III, 119-120]. This explains that Romeo trust anyone in the town but not himself, he just thinks taking his life is the best choice to make after the love with Juliet. This shows the Romeo loves and his impulsiveness choices takes his own life without knowing the actual truth. For help, he didn’t seek Friar Lawrence who knows the truth. Similarly, Juliet’s performance is also very impulsive when she wakes up after drinking the potion. She wakes up in happiness knowing that she is now definitely going to be with Romeo forever but Romeo has killed himself thinking that Juliet is died. When Juliet wakes up she notices that Romeo has killed himself by drinking poison. Juliet goes with her emotions by saying, “Yea,
noise? Then I’ll be brief. O happy dagger![ Snatching Romeo’s dagger]This is my sheath;[Stabs herself]there rust, and let me die[Falls on Romeo’s bodies and dies.” This expression from Juliet explains that she is against the Friar Lawrence and also decides to kill using Romeo sword. She also shows impulsiveness choice as she chooses the wrong pathway. She should have come up with a solution or should have forget the passion of love with Romeo and start a new life. The other character also to make poor choices which caused them their life was Tybalt. When he challenges Romeo on the streets of Verona, Romeo tells him that he does not wants to fight with him, and Tybalt answers it by saying “Boy, this shall not excuse the injuries that thou hast done to me.” [Act III, sc. I, 130-131] Tybalt didn’t even know that Romeo has just married his cousin Juliet, but he makes Romeo responsible and guilty for everything the Montagues have done. This shows that Tybalt is responsible for many tragedies but his impulsiveness leads to deaths and to Romeo’s expulsion from Verona.
In conclusion of this tragedy, many character’s make thoughtless and unconcerned choices which lead them to an initially death. The three character’s Romeo, Juliet and Tybalt make impulsiveness choices which cause them their lives. All character act flat, round and dynamic but made poor choices.
