Romeo and Juliet - Mid Book Review
In the playwright, Romeo and Juliet, there is a great deal of love, and as we all know it does not end well. There are many reasons why this story ended tragically, and I believe it is due to love at first sight theory. Personally I do not believe that love at first sight exists. I don’t even think it is relative to possibilities. It would most likely be the visual appeal of the man or women that lures the lovers to each other. As a teenager myself, I can personally say that young people, in general terms, do not have the capacity or experience to properly fall in love with someone, and definitely not even close to a lifetime of love which is being suggested in Romeo and Juliet. My opinion about arranged marriages are not that high but I am on a competent basis with them, they allow you to make the feeling of love over the course of many years with your partner. Now concerning the statements that you have to follow what your older, wiser parents have say about your marriage, or if you wanted to make your own life decisions. For me it doesn't matter if you listen to your parents or make decisions of your own. It all depends on the situation you're in, say that you had a relationship with someone for a long time now and your parents disagree, I would go with my own decision. If I had a love at first sight moment, and my other option was an arranged marriage, I would go with my parent’s decision. If my parents disapprove of my choice, I could try to make it work out but no guarantee they will accept what I did. You will most likely lose the relationship with your family and all if you go on your own decisions but you’ll be with the love your life. Over the course of two years we have had a very large infli Throughout the play Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, several characters make rash decisions that greatly impact life in Verona. In my opinion, Romeo makes the most hasteful decisions out of every character in the play. I believe this, for he rushed into love much too quickly. Romeo states that his love for Juliet is different because she loves him back. As I see it, this means that Romeo’s heart is crushed by the fact that Rosaline does not love share the love that he does for her. Romeo, now blinded by a broken heart, foolheartedly rushes into another relationship with a family enemy. Only on the basis that Juliet loves him back. Romeo’s decision to love Juliet is also ill thought out for several reasons. The most prominent of these reasons is that the Montagues and Capulets share such hatred with each other that the result of this romance can only lead to the negative effect on others. Past experiences of mine allow for connections to be made between the rash decisions made by characters within shakespeare's play, and decisions of my own. For example, all throughout middle school I would find myself judging others. I would judge others based upon details that I should have considered irrelevant. These details consist of who they hung out with, or what sports they played. Reflecting back on these decisions I now realize how stupid I was for making such blind judgments of people that I have only seen briefly while passing them in the hallway.

The ending of Romeo & Juliet was not very satisfying in terms of how happy it was. William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet has many moments that could be changed, in order to result in a happier more satisfying ending. A few of these events would be for Mercutio to not get in a fight and get killed. And another event would be for Juliet to wake before Romeo Drinks the poison. Either one of these event changes could independently result in a more conclusive satisfying ending.…

Context has been a major faction contributing to the way Romeo and Juliet was written. In William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Baz Luhrmann produced a Romeo and Juliet with a modern context rather than an Elizabethan context. Context has influenced the language and representation of ideas throughout Romeo and Juliet, notably with the themes: Loyalty Vs. Disloyalty, Power and inequality. These themes have changed the way Romeo and Juliet was written and put them into a different context.…

Romeo and Juliet display Romeo’s ill made decisions when Romeo consumed in anger and grief kills Tybalt. Rather than letting the law deal with the murder of Mercutio he takes matters into his own hands and engages Tybalt in a fight killing him in the heat of battle. “Now, Tybalt, take the “villain” back again, / That late thou gavest me, for Mercutio’s soul/” (3.1.125-126). This exclamation shows Romeo’s ill made decision making in a time of grief. Another expo of Romeo’s impulsive choices is his encounter with Paris.…

Romeo is a young man who has fancied an older woman named Rosaline. He is heartbroken because Rosaline does not return his affections. However, in a matter of days, Romeo has seemingly moved on and is fond of a younger lady called Juliet. It has been speculated by many as to whether Romeo truly loves Juliet or if it is another immature infatuation. Romeo treats Juliet in a similar fashion to which he approaches Rosaline. There are characters in the play that notice Romeo's immature concepts of love and blatantly convey to the audience that his love is not a true love. Romeo is also very impulsive. These are all signs of a young, immature man fantasising about unknown concepts of love.…

This is an interesting year in the NBA because there are plenty of notable names that will be free agents at the end of the season. The summer could bring on the ultimate game of musical chairs for players, swapping teams for more lucrative contracts and a better chance at winning a championship. Of all the free agents, LeBron James has probably been the most talked about when it comes to 2010 restricted free agency. There has been plenty of speculation about the teams he will go to next year if he decides to leave Cleveland. After a loss tonight in game 6 of the Eastern Conference semi-finals, the talk has already begun to escalate as LeBron’s decision becomes more imminent. For that reason I choose to evaluate LeBron’s post-game press conference from the game 6 loss to the Celtics. It is not the typical press conference because of the aforementioned free agency. Moreover, it is an opportunity for him to talk to the fans of Cleveland, and almost apologize for not living up to this year’s expectations. It is also different from the typical press conference because there is some persuading on James’ part. Convincing the reporters in the room, and consequently the people paying attention to the situation, that he has not given any thought to what team he going sign with in the off season.…

This is evidenced by, along with Juliet and her actions, the fact that Romeo chooses to act upon his love too quickly, his relationship with the feud of their two households, and Romeo’s blunt choice to commit suicide at the end of the novel. Romeo and Juliet is a play created by Shakespeare a very long time ago, but this play has been adopted into many other movies, plays, songs, and even phrases. In class we watched Romeo and Juliet, West side story, and Princess Bride. These are all renditions of the original and are unique in their own way, West Side Story is a musical, Princess Bride is a medieval story, and Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy. These are all in different time periods but have basically the same plot, boy and girl love each other and there is a major challenge standing between their love but it all ends badly. All of these stories are about love, which is a strong human emotion so many people have experienced it very differently. Personally I have never been I love with anyone so the feelings in these movies are not as important to me. However if someone was deeply in love sometime in their life it would make more sense. For instance when in West Side Story Maria and Tony were taking a very long time saying goodbye, approximately five minutes which was a bit drug out; Mr. Dalton said, “When you’re in love you’ll understand how hard it is to say goodbye.” In Romeo and Juliet the same scene, which was the original balcony scene, occurred and they spent about the same time saying goodbye. Also in Princess Bride when Westly and Buttercup were saying goodbye it was the same feeling but I didn’t understand any of it as well.…
