Parent Child Relationships throughout Romeo & Juliet

Have you ever been so overwhelmed by hate? The feud between the Capulets and Montagues in Romeo and Juliet was devastating. Juliet’s parents love her but do not understand her feelings and try to push her into marriage, Romeo’s parents are not very involved. These parents were distant in their children's lives but in different ways. The Montagues gave Romeo free roam, while the Capulets kept Juliet in a strict manner and expected her to obey them with no opposition. Both sets of parents gave their children little communication.
Romeo and Juliet were typical teenagers, Romeo’s parents don’t have a big part in this play, In scene one his father does show concern while he’s depressed but states

    Firstly, some people believe that the parents of Romeo and Juliet were to blame for their deaths because of the ongoing feud between the two families. The argument between the Montague’s and Capulets is mentioned in the prologue, ‘Two households, both alike in dignity, in fair Verona where we lay our scene, from ancient grudge break, to new mutiny, where civil hands make civil hands unclean, from forth the fatal loins of these two foes ... doth with their death bury their parents strife, the fearful passage of their parents rage’. The point is made, that if the two families did not have such hatred for each other, it would not have resulted in the deaths of the two ‘star crossed lovers’, Romeo and Juliet.
