From the beginning of the play, it is obvious that the parents are distant from their children. During the play, Montague and Lady Montague are unaware of what Romeo is or isn’t doing this shows that they don’t care about Romeo enough to have a concern and that they don’t pay close enough attention to him. Also after Tybalt’s death Capulet accepts Paris’ marriage proposal to Juliet to cheer her up without asking her and expecting her to do it because he says so. Capulet said, “How, will she none? Doth she not give us thanks? Is she not proud? Doth she not count her blessed, Unworthy as she is, that we have wrought so worthy a gentleman to be her bride” (3.5.142-145). A lack of communication is what causes most relationships to fail as happens in Romeo and Juliet. In the play,Romeo and Juliet lack communication with their parents because of this lack of communication a lot of problems arise and cause unfortunate events.
