Romeo And Juliet Who Is To Blame Essay

It hurts to realize that Romeo and Juliet could have lived through the tragic event that ultimately led to their demise. William Shakespeare’s tragedy, “Romeo and Juliet” took place in Verona, Italy. In this play, two star-crossed lovers were put through an extremely unfortunate series of events that eventually led to both of them taking their own lives. That being said, everything that happened in this story could have been prevented, had it not been for something as simple as carelessness. Even though Romeo and Juliet committed the act of suicide, Friar Laurence and Juliet’s Nurse are ultimately to blame for their deaths. Some people may believe that fate is to blame for the Lovers’ deaths. They might think that the lovers took their own lives because something as harsh as fate left them no choice, but they are wrong. They are wrong because Romeo would not have killed himself, which would have led Juliet to not kill herself either, if Friar Laurence and the Nurse had informed them about the Friar’s plan. The Friar’s carelessness in sending the letter to Romeo instead of visiting him personally proves that The Friar is to blame.
Because The Friar decided just to have another Friar deliver a letter to Romeo, the second Friar got caught up somewhere and was unable to deliver the letter. Telling Balthasar would have made it a lot easier to give Romeo the information about Juliet. “Her body sleeps in Capel’s monument, and her immortal part with angels lives” (895). Balthasar was the one who told Romeo about Juliet’s death, and could have very well given Romeo the information that would have saved his life instead. Romeo’s suicide was what ultimately caused Juliet’s
