In the play “Romeo and Juliet” written by William Shakespeare I blame the reason for their tragedy on Friar Laurence. In the play the Friar married Romeo and Juliet to each other and didn’t inform the Capulet's nor the Montague's. The Friar also tried to help Juliet by giving her a sleeping potion so she wouldn’t have to marry Paris. He also failed to deliver the letter to Romeo saying that Romeo didn’t die, but she was in fact sleeping. “I could not send it here it is again nor get a messenger to bring it thee so fearful were they of infection” (Shakespeare 470). Lastly the Friar had blamed the two lover's death of Romeo and Juliet when both the Capulet's and Montague's had heard of there passings. In the play Friar Laurence had married Romeo and Juliet to each other. The Friars reasoning for this was he believed that this would end the Capulet's and Montague's lifelong feud. The Friar even states that this whole wedding was happening too fast and that they only knew each other for such a short time yet he still married them. The Friar knew that the wedding would end up in a tragedy one way or another.
Yes Juliet did take the sleeping potion to prevent from marrying Paris and further on led to her and Romeo committing suicide but this potion was given to her by Friar Laurence. Juliet also married Romeo, a Montague, the Capulets worst enemy but this all happened because of the Friar. Lastly she
In conclusion, I believe that the reason for the tragedy for Romeo and Juliet was to blame on the Friar. The Friar thought mostly about himself throughout the play. For example he married Romeo and Juliet to each other in hope of the end of a family feud. He also blamed the death of the two lover on Romeo and Juliet and twisted the story when the Capulet’s and Montague’s asked the Friar what happened.
