ROMEO & JULIET
The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is essentially about teenagers refusing to listen their parents, how ever the out come may have been the same if they had listened to their parents because they would have been so unhappy and miserable that they weren’t together.
“The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is a play about two young people who fall in love but whose families are enemies and will never agree to them being together. Romeo and Juliet refuse to listen to their parents and run away to get married. This results in the deaths of Romeo and Juliet
In the play Romeo and Juliet ,
Juliet’s family want her to marry Paris, she is not happy about this because she doesn’t love him. Her family thinks he is a good match for her because he is rich and the family like him, but that is not enough for Juliet. She wants to be with someone she loves and doesn’t’ care what her family think or want for her. When Juliet meets Romeo it is love at first sight and even though they both know their families will never agree to them being together, they decide they don’t care and they refuse to listen to their parents.
Parents and children are very different. Adults are stiff and children run on impulse; most kids stray from their parents’ way of life and go off on their own.
Sometimes parents influence their children’s opinion on important matters. Many times this can be a good thing but other times its bad. Since often times children are easy to influence it’s not hard for them to inherit their parents’ way of thinking. Many times parents don’t realize that they have this effect on their kids. And though they don’t realize it, they are indirectly harming their kid’s ability to think on their own. Parents’ opinions about people can also be given to their kids. (Romeo III.I.62-63) “Boy this shall not excuse the injuries that thou has done me; therefore turn and draw”. Romeo and Tybalt were persuaded to hate each other.
Adults learn to love, children act on love based on impulse. Parents don’t know how to feel the effects of love at first sight. Children, however, do just that and that alone. Kids do not think; they feel. Most adults would be angered by such spontaneity and call it foolish. However, love is supposed to be something that you feel not think. Being stubborn, kids don’t like to take advice from parents on their love interest because they know that is love. “Exchange of thy love’s faithful vow for mine” (II II 127); Romeo and Juliet married after only knowing each other one night.
Because Romeo and Juliet’s parents hated each other, they were forced to hide their marriage. Since Lord Capulet did not know of Juliet’s marriage she was forced to marry Paris. When Romeo killed Tybalt and was banished Juliet poisoned herself with a sleeping drug, so that she did not have to marry Paris. Romeo killed himself when he believed Juliet was dead. After, Juliet found Romeo dead
