Ron Swanson What Is The Fourth Of July
Wise libertarian in local government: Ron Swanson, once said that, “History began on July 4th, 1776. Everything before that, was a mistake.” While standing on the very soil, which once oppressed the patriots of young America, Swanson, filled with a strong pride for our nation and detest of our former British monarchy, understands the importance of our independence and the celebration of it. The Fourth of July is both a pivottable date in our democracy, declaring our liberty through law, and serves as a date in which Americans all across the nation’s reaches can celebrate their freedoms and rights bestowed to them by the people for the people with family, various foods, and of course what makes America famous, fireworks. After ratification, America was bound for it’s successful and still continuing experiment. There was some resistance to the official date, for example, historical records found that founding father and second US President, John Adams, personally believed that the correct date of our independence was July 2nd, and it has been documented that he declined invitations to attend the July 4th event in his earnest protest. Even though former President Adams didn’t agree when to celebrate, he agreed with the principal, which in the end, is what counts and makes us a united people. This is why we celebrate the Fourth on the 4th. It marks when America was all on the same page, and united as one nation and not as separate people. The underlying purpose of the Fourth of July, is to not only recognize the courage and success of our nation’s grassroots, but also to serve as a reminder to ourselves and to the world that the United States of America is here to stay, and will continue to be the shining beacon for the world of the values of …show more content…
Overall, I was inspired to choose the Forth as my event because of my immense interest in our history, support for our nation, and passion for politics. There are so many unifying messages such as country and family that the holiday has to promote, as well as so many unique family and cultural takes on how to celebrate. As for decorating, there are only three colors that matter, two on the color (which we also don’t spell with a “u”) wheel and one used to create tints and tone. The red, white, and blue are not the only the colors under American hearts, but they represent a nation’s pride and history. Using a combination of these patriotic colors for flowers, reefs, and streamers, and with the use of banners and flags, any outdoor venue can be transformed into a patriot’s celebration. In addition, window sticky figures, centerpieces, and Americana themed clothes and food help further drive the patriot

    The years immediately following the War of 1812, were years of nationalism, caused by political unity and the expansion western American territory. This was seen through the festivities which celebrated the creation of the United States of America.     The speech “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July” opens with Frederick Douglas explaining how he was asked to give a speech on the Fourth of July. He then gives a brief statement about how hard his journey has been and now he will try to lay out his thoughts to the audience.
