Thesis- Attention Catcher “Ladies and Gentlemen, I’d planned to speak to you tonight to report on the state of the Union, but the events of earlier today have led me to change those plans. The body is connected with the thesis statement, but in a wide form including examples and evidences. In thesis statement he only emphasized the pain of the people and in the body this pain is narrowed down with three categories: families, schoolchildren and space program. He starts with the families of the seven victims and expresses his condolences to them. He encourages them to see that the men no longer living were not just astronauts but pioneers on a journey to discover the unknown. After making the point that this occurrence is very saddening although it served a great purpose he addresses the youth of the nation which are schoolchildren. He shows them courage, strength, and confidence in his speech which was what they were looking for. America’s schoolchildren were scared and confused as to what the meaning of this accident was. The speaker sent out a loud and clear message urging them to be as committed as those seven astronauts were. The president was encouraging them to always be curious for what the unknown future had in store for the country. After addressing two very important parts of his audience he strongly and confidently praises the United States Space programs. He addresses NASA and tells them how proud America is of their research and innovative findings they had made over the years.
