Roommate Profile Research Paper
An essential part of having an enjoyable college experience starts with a good roommate. Unfortunately not all roommates fall into this category. To me a bad roommate is someone undesirable to live with. For the purpose of this essay we will create a character named Corey. Corey could be someone who is unclean, invades my privacy, or behaves differently in private than in public. Imagine a sink that is filled to the top on both sides with someone else’s dirty dishes. I asked Corey to do the dishes as well as clean the sink before he goes to bed. He agrees. I wake up the next morning to find the dishes are still there, plus a fresh bowl of uneaten cereal. Looking away from the sink I scroll to the refrigerator only to find that he

Roommate.com, LLC is classified under 230 as an “information content provider” because the website made the questions, force users to answer them in order to use the website and posted them on their website. The court came to the conclusion; Immunity through section 230 of the CDA does not protect Roommate.com, LLC. The court rationalized that since Roommate, LLC required subscribers to answer questions about sex, sexual preference, and family status that makes Roommate.com responsible in part of the content for each profile page. There is no way to opt out which makes Roommate.com not protected under immunity in section 230 of CDA. Since, the…

Gaylord was the first offical dormitory that was founded in 1884 (Perry et al. 54). Like other dorm rooms it was heated by steam (wood stoves) and had gas lighting (Perry et al 55 and 56). This shows how food was very scarce in 1800-1900’s. During this time the women had to go to the spring three hundred feet from each building for drinking water, but In Gaylord, cistern water is piped to every floor in ladies’ hall (Perry et al. 55). Water was hard to get as Crete had no water system (Perry et al. 55). Gaylord had many rooms. This dormitory had 42 rooms that housed 75-80 students (Perry et al. 56). This hall was different because the women teachers also reside (Perry et al. 57). I would not like my teachers being my RA in college. Reverend…

The function of paragraph one in Peselman’s essay was to introduce the topic of a dorm life “society”, without actually saying it. He talks about how people gain control, and sometimes it hurts themself and other time it hurts others. And, how a system can be really fragile if someone gains the courage to stand up for themselves and do something about it. Even though Peselman doesn’t use the word sociology in the first paragraph we know the essay will be about social interaction because one he is talking about dorm life, two he mention about people taking control, and to take control one must have to interact with others to gain the respect or fear.…

Based off this essay I feel Rebekah was able to capture a very good view on the general dorm life on college. All though there were some differences between building structures and door decorating rules not much seems to have change from when she lived in a dorm to how dorm life is now. One of my favorite things to read was how amazed she was by how two people could adjust and fit so much stuff in a small room by building up. Being in a forced triple I instantly connected with this amazement. When I first visited my dorm I thought it was going to be a nightmare but now that I’m settled in things really aren’t that bad. I was surprised though when I heard that there weren’t any triples in her dorm hall, I was also kind of jealous.…

He came from a hard working class home where he was a hard worker even though his young age. So going through this transition was not easy at all. He was not prepared to the different things he was going to see and experience at school. As he said, “I’d been totally unprepared for the centrality of singing groups to campus life” (p. 7). The Whiffenpoofs, a singing group, was one of the many things Danny was not prepared for. He was amazed how they devote so much time to singing. While living near some of the members of the group he was startled to see how the group consumed so much of their lives. Living with roommates was a new thing too, but he got used to it quickly. Sometimes Max crashed in his bed, but Danny knew what to say for him to leave. His room was a sanctuary as in to do homework, no more action than that happened, there was no other place where he could concentrate on his work. He stated, “unlike most of my friends who claimed they couldn’t get any work done in their rooms, I found it impossible to work anywhere else” (p. 15). There were too many distractions for him outside his room. Moreover, his roommates’ backgrounds were very different from his. Their parents were well known, well studied, and rich people. This was something to which Danny could not relate to because his parents have never been able to own most of the things the…
