In Churchill’s address from to the commons he is discussing the strategies and asking for support from the government for the war effort. He starts out the speech but listing low points to the war and how very personal these events are to those present. This is followed by eloquently stating how to visualize the problem. Basically he his manipulating his audience toward the vision he is about to present. Churchill then goes on to list what items are in place toward the direction he is attempting to steer the representatives in the commons. He talks about how he needs to speak candidly with the American people and how he also feels the pain of the common man. He differs from Churchill in that Roosevelt states solutions such as “Our Greatest Primary task is to put people to work.” Then transitions to listing how he is going to go about securing his plans. These details are very specific and referred to in an almost battle like posture. He is declaring war on the problems of America and showing the nation how everyone can help to join the common cause for rebuilding the country after the great depression.
