Root Beer History

Root beer is a dark colored sweet, soft drink that is famous all over the United States.That is usually made from the root or bark of a Sassafras albidum or a vine called Smilax ornata.These two products usually give the primary flavor to the drink. Root beer is made and can be made many different ways such as alcoholic or nonalcoholic, carbonated or uncarbonated and it can also be sweet or unsweetened.The most common way root beer is made, is sweet and carbonated.
So how did this creamy, frosted old fashioned sweet beverage come from exactly ? Well root beer was first invented by early americans. Shakespeare actually wrote about tasting a light brown color, herb made beer. Later on then came out with other flavors of this popular “small beer”. The “small beer” a big hit most families would use it as a drink for backyard parties or small get togethers.
Later when Charles created it he soon passed it on to his family. In 1893 the first bottled root beer was sold.He and his family soon became very popular. After a few years individual companies took over on making the delicious drink. Such as A&W the number one bestselling soft drink. The founder was Roy Allen ,who began in marketing 1919.
Root beer is sold all over the world. In many different ways and brands. A few major brands that are most well know are; IBC, A&W, Barq's, and Dad's,Hires. There are many more different brands. I would have to say my favorite kind of Root beer would have to be Mug or
