Rough Draft: Communicating Ideas
Rough Draft
I believe I have grown in communicating ideas because before I would get shy and nervous when I used to go in front of the class to present a project or assignment. I also used to strider a lot. Now when I present in front of the class I'm kind of shy, nervous but not as much as before. In my experience with the biology project I had to present to pre-k. It was kind of hard because we had to explain everything so that the little kids would understand what we were presenting to them. When I was Researching about climate change I thought it meant how the weather changes and for one part I was right, but climate change means that it changes by making hurricane, or when the ice from Alaska dissolves fast. Also I have learned that many

In English I wrote a letter to my parents were I was not good at writing and speaking. Also, I notice that when I read my paragraphs it wouldn't make sense I was a terrible writer my paragraphs wouldn't focus in one thing. I think I have gotten better at writing and speaking because when I read the gratitude letter to my teacher, friends to correct me and correct the mistake that I made in my rough draft. I have improved by reading it to other persons. Also so when I used to read it to my parents I would stutter and get nervous.so that's how I improved in my speaking, writing. Also, the part I need to improve was in my listening because I wouldn't listen when people would correct me. I wouldn't listen to them when they were speaking or giving lessons how to get better in speaking, writing. so that I would improve. I now listen to people that give me lessons on how to write, speak better because they hear me and read my paragraphs. So now I improve in a lot of things because I get lesson from other people. If I wouldn't listen to people that give me advice about my paragraphs I don't know where I'll be right now. So that how I have grown in the different sections of skills for academic

Communication skills are very important to personal or professional life. Manuscriptedit (Dec.2011) says, “Communicating the intended message clearly and effectively is an important skill, which is often a key factor in deciding the chances of success.” I feel I need to improve that skill, maybe because I’m a leaner of the English language - which isn’t my mother one - and I feel like my vocabulary needs to be improved. College is being a great help though but even before I was organising my time and taking a few hours during the week to read a book, newspapers or magazine.…

My writing has improved so much since coming to College. In high school, I really didn't care about my writitng at all. My main focus was to get everything done as fast as possible. To be honest, I really don't like writitng at all! I think it's boring and not very fun. My writting was bad in high scool as well, and I didn't really improve at all through my four years. But since coming to UNI, my writitng has changed so much! I care a lot more about it and I am more invested in it. Looking back at my ealriest wirirtng, I thought it was terrible and so much to fix. My ealries writitng's really didn't have much flow to it and my senctences were moslty run on's. Having Cornerstone this semster really imporved my wirritng. My profesor made writitng…

Well, I can now say after reading last week's article by Hass and Flower and this weeks Penrose and Geisler's which was about how important rhetorical reading is and can help understand what you are reading, has opened my eyes to that fact that these are only part of why I have trouble with writing. As I reflect on past writing assignments, I now see it could have been due to my lack of experiences within certain rhetorical situations. Now that I have advanced my education and have gained additional experience on how to approach writing differently, my style of writing seems to flow better, and has become less intimidating. Which has lead to fewer sentence fragments; consistent grammar and being less critical, this has helped me, become a more knowledgeable writer. I can now say I am more like Roger and less like Janet because I now can connect the texts I am reading with real world events or things that have happened within my own life. Ultimately, I have now found that being a more experienced student has helped me improve how to read between the lines and not read just to paraphrase, it has also helped me write a better structured, more comprehensive, and well-organized essay using better examples. The important part of these readings…

Reading a paper aloud makes errors a lot more noticeable rather than reading silently. A professor once to told me this is very effective and to date I must say that it works. One of the strategies I will continue to use to improve my writing skills will be reading more often. In addition, my vocabulary is another area that needs improvement. . I think I tend to struggle sometimes even if I know what I want to say but the words are hard to come. To help build my vocabulary, I have created my vocabulary journal. I read more books, magazines and newspapers now. I highlight all the words that are unknown to me. I write down the words along with the definition and I construct sentences with it. I review it o a daily basis so that it becomes a part of me. I have taken the initiative to sign up for the toastmasters club as this will help as I practice my oratorical skill and writing…

Starting with some ESL classes, I had the opportunity to share my feelings with other students that have the same problem. However this made me feels even worse because everyone was complaining .I get to the point that I wanted to give up on everything and just stay home by myself. Yet, everything changed when I met Professor Molly; she had an important impact on my writing skills. She provided me in an enjoyable way with the basic methods that I need to write a good paragraph. Later on I realized that writing could be a fun thing to do. I started practicing with some tutors for more than three hours a day and after each session I was able to see how my writing was improving day after day.…

My first skill is about how I struggle when communicating in verbal presentations. I’m confident when it comes to verbal communication in conversations or interviews. However when being in front on large audiences I find it hard to be as confident. During college I never needed to prepare my own presentation and present them. It was a new experience for me to get into groups or prepare a presentation by myself in front of my peers. I have experienced around 5 presentations now and I feel I am becoming more confident in myself and don’t get as worried when I know I have to do one. However I still feel like it’s a weakness when it comes to my skills and would like develop myself to become clear and confident when doing presentations. An example of how I no I’m doing better in this skill is that my grades have become higher. I feel I’m weak when doing presentations because I experience feeling nervous and forget to say things when I know what I’m talking about, so it comes across unprofessional and weak.…

Then, that summer I started to attend an English course. My mother chose it for me. But that course had just been established; it had only two teachers and five classes. I do not know why she picked up for me, but she said that it was the best course and director of that school is highly educated person. Next, I did some tests and started to attend that teacher’s class. Although he was director of that school, he was very open-minded person and he was giving us many advices about how to learn English. His lessons were very easy to understand and increased my interest in English. When I finished that course, I was happy choosing that course because by studying there, I learned lot of things. Sometimes I see my notes which I wrote down when I was taking that course. Then I understand that there are still many things to learn from his lessons.…

Each person is different, so it varies on each individual. Usually, one has to practice whatever it is they are trying to learn. For example, if playing a game you should read instructions if there are any. Retaining this information is one step in the process of learning the game. Once you actually 'play' the game you get an understanding of it. After this is accomplished, you may continue 'practicing' until you are satisfied with your progress. So, let me tell a story of my learning English experienced. My friends say that i'm good in English, because I always get good marks in English tests and I have just scored the highest points in the interview. They think I’m a talented girl and I’m clever at English from the beginning. But in fact, I’m not a talented girl. I’m just a common girl. I’d like to say something about my experienced on didn't do well in English in the beginning. I started my English course at the age of 10. Maybe you can't imagine, I couldn't say a whole sentence at that time. I couldn't catch up with my classmates because of my bad base. Having a bad base may be many students' problem. I was sad about it, I spent almost all of my free time practicing English by listening to the tape and repeating after it. Whenever it was, wherever I was, I kept the tape on. I listened carefully and I tried to recite the articled of it. Once of learning English, soon, I found I had made a good progress in my English. At least, I could understand what the teacher said in class. Then slowly, I could get good marks at times. This taught me a good lesson. That is not to be afraid of setbacks, hard work makes progress. This is the first part of my English learning. When I was in grade six and seven, my English was much better than it was. I could always get good marks in tests. My English skills still couldn't compare with the top students in my class. My spoken English was really poor. I got bad result in my spoken English test at the end of the…
